Look, if you want to hang off CRE's "jock" - that's your business, there's a place for it here ...
Discuss Your Favorite Trucking Company Here
Otherwise don't start crying a river when you're called out on obvious BS.
It's a public forum - and like it or not - your opinion is in the minority here.
You've already demonstrated your lack of knowledge and experience, contradicted yourself, and demonstrated thru your own comments the problems and weaknesses of your outfit.
You can can post as many irrelevant line-by-line rebuttals as you want, it don't bother me - and if your bothered by it, than mingle among friends in the positive CRE threads.
So instead of trying to think up any more clever "one liners" ... maybe you need to be asking yourself this:
- Since CRE is the one taking out all this money for taxes - are the taxes being paid?
- CRE just lost a major lawsuit, brought by hundreds of former lease purchase drivers, but I guess they were all "liars" too ...
- Have an transportation attorney look over your contract, and ask their opinion on it.
- Ask some "real" owner operators what the term IC means ...
Ask An Owner Operator
As I said B4, it's your life, and your money.
Good luck to you.Last edited: Feb 1, 2010
RickG Thanks this. -
Anyway...I was asked to pick up this England trailer and haul it back to SLC and drop it off after I haul whatever loads I can find to haul out there in it.
Kind of a drag pulling one of these things though 'cause everyone just assumes that anyone pulling an England trailer is intellectually challenged.
Yes...they will still be working there! If England fired every idiot that they have driving for them, They'ed have 90% of their trucks parked!
Why do YOU feel the need to defend yourself over every word said about that cheesebox company?
If you think they're great...Good for you but as it has been pointed out to you many times before, You have so little experience in the industry that you have no idea what you're talking about pretty much all the time.
There are those of us that have been in business for many years and have proven over time that we are capable of not only getting by in the business but can make a good solid living at this when most people that buy a truck are out of business before their first truck is ever even paid for.
I personally find it more than a little amusing when some wet behind the ears knowitall pops up and educates me as to how it's done and how the advice that I and many others give is somehow mean spirited because it doesn't fit into the rookies rose colored fantasy about the mistakes that he's making.
If it irritates you....So what?zentrucking Thanks this. -

Okay, whatever, say what you want.
If all you can do is sit there and question my answers to my numbers on my check, then I don't know what to tell you.
Personally, I'm tired of arguing with you.
I know they just got recently sued but to my knowledge, that was for somethin else.
How many more times I got to say it, pal?? (no pun intended) I'm makin money. So are many others. What more do you wanna hear before you put an end to all this bullheaded-ness?
Regardless of what you say, I'm tired of having this conversation. Badmouth England all you want. My wife and I are making it work despite how much you obviously don't want to hear it. -
Cornilios... I am not being argumentive... But, I am a very pragmatic type...
I have been reaig through all the posts here and I have some honest questions and comments... But, again I am not being argumentive...
First, several post ago, you posted that .17cpm is pretty much a going rate for a newbie wih no experience... I started driving/training with a small company right out of school and was paid alot more than that... So, it is hard for me to say that .17pm is a good starting wage...
Now, I am still within my first year, however, my long term goal is to be an O/O. I am in a financial position to buy a truck, I just believe I have alot more to learn before I invest in a truck, to insure my success.
The thing about the lease plan that concerns me... is, it just doesn't favor the driver who leases he truck...
I am willing to admit I am new, and I have already admitted I hve alot more to learn... But, and correct me if I am wrong, the way I see the lease thing is like this...
10 years ago, I found a great house in a great neighborhood and purchased it... I had to finance it, and make my morgage payments, but, with my payment I was earning equity, which is a good thing. Now, across the street from me is a home very similar to mine only it is a rental. Now, a few month after I moved into my new home, a nice couple moved into the rental...
Well, for 10 years we both have had to make monthly payments... only, after 10 years I have actually paid my home off and own it, and they do not own theirs, nor do they have any equity. Now, a few years ago the was some trouble with the sewer pipes, I had to foot the bill to have my yard dug up and sewer pipes replaced, they did not, because the landlord paid the bill. However, all in all, I feel it is better to be a homeowner than a renter. All the money they paid each month to rent... they don't own the home, they have earned no equity...
That is how I see he lease thing...
Do you ever own the truck you are making lease payments on?
Also, and I culd be wrong here, but, you stated that you and you wife could not afford to buy a truck and that is why you are leasing.... Now, when I read about the lease programs offered by these companies, and on CREnglands website, it says you can lease a truck with no money down, and with bad credit, often with no credit check... well, that just sounds fishie to me... and like an opportunity to get screwed.. It sounds on a par with a buy here pay here place where they can screw you because you can't get financed anywhere else, and so they profit on those in desire and who are desparate... and we don't make are best decisions out of desparation...
Finally, you refer to yourself as an IC as oppossed to a LO, however, either way, it is running your own business so to speak right? And, I am not be argumentive, but, is it prudent to become a business owner with litte to no money saved up and with only 6 months experience.... I am in my first year, and I am still perfecting my shifting and driving to run the most fuel effeciently... As an O/O that is going to be important to my success, I am also, stll learning about the truck, how look for and fix things before they become a problem.
I got a big lesson in that a couple weeks ago, had an air hose that needed to be replaced so I was at freightliner, then I mentioned to the mechanic that I thought the started wasn't exactly right, he checked it and thought it wasn't bad, it was going out, but should be alright. I told my boss about it, he put me on hold, then told me to hand the phone to the mechanic... well, turns out, the starter had 1 week left on it's warranty, and he wanted it replaced.... the point is, had I not brought it up the starter would of gone out weeks, or months later and been costly. These are things that are very important to know how to identify and deal with if you are going to be a successful O/O.
I just don't see how anyone can be a successful business owner with no capital, no money saved up to take care of the things that will come up, you can't just keep borrowing and paying interest... I also don't see how anyone can be a successful business owner in an industry that they have little experience in...
I mean, if I waited tables in a restaurant for 6 months, I wouldn't assume that I knew enough to open and run my own.... And just because someone was willing to finance it for me, doesn't mean I should...
I am willng to bet that CREngland, Horizon, or who ever is financing it have a good business sense and have their risks protected.... I am sure they have it set up in a way that protects them and transfers the cost and risk along... I mean, they are a business, they are in it to make money...
Now, all I really know is that I don't know enough yet...
I am glad that things are going well for you and your wife... It is still early in this endeavor.. Most business classes teach you that the first few years are establishing years and many businesses go under in their 2nd or 3rd year... So, even you have to be aware that you are still in the honeymon phase....
Are you really so confident that this is a good business advenure... you, like any new business owner you have to have your concerns as well yes...blackw900 and zentrucking Thank this. -
Well put Lavender....Rational thinking like that is going to be very helpful when you get where you want to go.

Because I am arguing my numbers; the numbers I see on my check every week. I'm not the one who's makin myself look like a ####### and arguing something I heard from someone else.
I never said they great nor did I ever imply that they were gods gift to trucking companies. I know they aint perfect and what ever it was that they got sued for was prolly well deserved. All I care about IQ gettin paid for the loads I haul.
Again with the "you don't have enough experience to think for yourself" BS. I have accurate numbers and accurate responses that weren't made up.
I'm not a knowitall, nor have I tried to educate you or anybody else on anything. You all keep pullin the "I've been in the business longer than you have" card and expect me to believe every word you say, regardless of how ludicrous it sounds. I assure you I know what I'm doing and if you and everyone else who has argued pretty much everything I've said why don't you try being a positive mentor instead of telling me everything I've said is bogian just cuz I haven't been in the business as long as you all have. -
