Are you LTL guys busy right now? I know the trucking market has been cooling off a little, but I think there is still stuff going on, but I've heard that some LTL companies are a little on the slow side.

I work for different carrier in Chicago and can confirm it’s slow…I thought things were picking like two weeks ago but it was just good week.

Things are pretty steady in my part of the midwest. We’re running all of our bid runs every day, but the main issue is that most of the overflow/extra work has dropped off, so there’s not enough work for the extra board outside of vacation coverage.

Things will be changing for the better in a few weeks, when FxF implements a major lane realignment in my region. The way things are looking, there’s a very real possibility that I could get a daytime linehaul bid run after only three years with this company. Of course it’ll more than likely be a run that’s garbage in the winter, so I’m still planning my usual strategy of taking an easy or frequently canceled overnight run during the snowy months.

I had just wondered how things were going. I thought it was a little slow and I heard that FedEx Freight was revamping their system and making some bigger changes. Over in the food world we've seen a bump up since it's back to school time and we do a lot of schools, but the bump hasn't been as big as I think some were planning, because a lot of the COVID benefits that the school districts were getting from the government have ran out so now that the school districts have to pay for all the food it's self they are back to keeping an eye on their budgets a lot closer and that slowed down to much. Plus their are some management issues at work that I've been getting creamed on as far as miles go and my frustration level is hitting critical mass and it's the first time I've ever seriously considered quitting and going somewhere else, now my boss himself is a pretty good guy and is working on fixing stuff, and his boss too recognizes there are serious problems, they are trying to let the lower level managers figure it all out, but it's been a little bit of a rocky road I'm going to keep my eye on it, and to be fair my boss can't fix things he doesn't know are broken and he's talked to me about some changes and even put some things into action if the next couple days and weeks go okay and stay regular then, it'll be okay, but if not then I have a problem and will have to quit.

But I might run down to the DMV this weekend and take the Hazmat test, I let my Hazmat expire a few years ago, I shouldn't have done that, but not the end of the world by any means I can get it back.

I was thinking either Dayton Freight or Estes. I think Dayton Freight while they aren't as big as Estes is better ran and higher performance. Anyhow if anyone else has any thoughts of how things are going I would love to hear them.

I would update my hazmat and then let my boss know hey I've updated my license and put hazmat on it. They will get the picture and hopefully get what you need fixed taken care of. Actions speak louder than words sometimes you talking about quiting is one thing actually showing that you will is another.

We’re still fairly steady. I’m as busy as I ever was. Pickups seem to have dropped off a bit though.
