Its not a 1099, it is a W2. How do I find info on a particular company on this forum? I plugged in the name, but only one thing pops up from over a year ago. Is there a way to search for a particular company under the bad or good company forums?

When you enter the name in the search bar, you'll see "More" under that. Click more and a new search page will open. You can select more options from there.

That is NOT normal. Company drivers should NEVER need an escrow account.

My concern is that trucking companies are insured for accidents. Accidents are accidents. Maybe drivers are extra careful if they know they may be responsible for the deductible. I dont know, that is why I was asking. Now I am torn, because one says its normal and another says it is not.

You are correct, they are insured. This is another way of passing the normal costs of doing business onto the employee instead of out of their pocket, where it should be coming from.

You should never have to pay a cent to be employed, period. No "escrow" accounts that will inevitably be stolen. No final checks withheld. Nothing. You are to show up when/where they say and do as they say, and they are to compensate you for your services. They are responsible for ALL of the costs of doing business, any place trying to shift that onto the driver is not a place you want to work.

Think about it; do you want to set yourself up for millions of dollars in lawsuits, because you agreed to take responsibility for something that should be a trucking company responsibility? Trucking companies go bankrupt almost every day over lawsuits and some of the lawsuits are frivolous. You can lose your home and life savings by paying a lawsuit that the trucking company should facing.

Why are yall messing with this dude's head???

He said he has ZERO experience. If a company is trying to hire him, WHY are you jacking that up for him?

Yeah...maybe there are better options...but you don't know this guy's story. Maybe this one company is the only thing that will hire him IF he pays into escrow. I don't know. He came here and asked if escrow is something to be concerned about. ITS NOT! Don't be concerned about $1000 that you'll get back, and more, because you have a job.

Maybe once you get some time in the seat, you can apply to "better" companies. For now, go get in whatever truck will let you and get that seat time. That's what you need and if it costs $1000 in escrow, so be it. It's $50 a week...come on.

The problem is, they never give it back. Its purely a ruse to steal money from the driver. Period. There's no excuse to defend this behavior, usually by the Eastern Europeans in Chicago and their ilk.

With zero experience, ALL the megas will hire him. There's no need to try and reinvent the wheel here, especially if it will cost him an extra $1000.
