We'll survive. We always have. There might be a few walking wounded when it's all over but that's to be expected.
Under $2/mile loads with $6/gal diesel.

The rates I am running today produce way better profit than 75 cpm.
The rates I mentioned in the post that you quoted were examples of the past, end of 2016 and beginning of 2017.
I am afraid you misunderstood my post intention in which I stated the rates I started with as a new authority and it was to show an example of how poor rates a new authority can run at if it is not educated on lanes' paying potential.
Irregardless.
Are you sure that with ease I can drive a company truck with 75 cpm with benefits and have all this time to f...around on this site while sitting on my porch?Last edited: Oct 17, 2022
Siinman, singlescrewshaker, RJM1953 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks. I must have missed the timeframe you were referencing , 'tis why I asked.
Yup - ODFL is paying solo drivers mid .70cpm home every night or other night right now. Teams , if you dare, well over 82 cpm. It's always been my benchmark, if I can't make more than what I left, time to hang it up.
Imagine that - park it in their yard every day for so and go about your business. Personally, I'd resist going back to it, but if the figures got bad, I'd strongly consider it.
Cheers.God prefers Diesels, Siinman, singlescrewshaker and 2 others Thank this. -
2021 ended with $275k on 100k miles,
This year will most likely end with $175k on 60k miles - I am not too sure exactly, I got demoralized and slopy in keeping track. But the last two quarters of relatively poorer rates don't justify quitting. I'll quit when I can't pay bills and could not afford to buy new tires.
I don't necessarily concern myself with what others make. -
abyliks Thanks this.

This is a business, not a hobby.
It is up to the customer, if he wants the beat up freightliner or that shiny Peterbuilt.
Evidently, the freighshaker has justified its market existence by securing its presence on the market and if the pretty truck owner ends up bunkrupt while the ugly truck owner survives then who is the winner and who is the loser?
Then it is up to DOT to decide the safety compliance of the suspicious truck.
Maybe that truck is still road worthy.
You can't compete with an ugly, lousy looking truck? Then take your truck to a truck show.Last edited: Oct 17, 2022
RJM1953 Thanks this. -

However, it is the second time in this thread alone that I hear that ugly trucks are too powerful to compete with.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Load boards are different than pursuing a customer of your own I suspect.
Jubal Early Times, fordconvert, God prefers Diesels and 3 others Thank this. -
I'd imagine a shipping director who'd you approach to present yourself would care to come out and see your equipment.
The ugly truck does not stand a chance.
On load boards not so much. Maybe running a 200 000 truck on the spot is not such a good idea.
