This is completely different than ABS. This is emergency braking, like if someone is messing around with their phone and don’t notice that traffic has stopped in front of them the truck will brake automatically.

    Here is what they mean.
And it’s always a Cascadia.. Why they didn’t have a white volvo… one will never know.

    Hard braking anyone?
Throw your team driver out of the bunk on his ### wondering wth is going on?

I can see this system malfunction and all stop in middle of intersection.

How do you think this will work in the winter months on icy roads? Or possibly in the mountains when it detects an object most likely a mountain in front of you but doesn't see the road bend before you would hit the mountain and hits your breaks on a patch of ice and throws you into the mountain regardless.

Yeah I just wait till you’re cruising down the highway at 65 mph and all sudden the brakes lock up for no reason. Collision avoidance system. It’s happened to me about three times over the last four years. Literally absolutely nothing in the path of the truck. I think sometimes it detects a shadow, perhaps a ghost, who knows. But every once in a while it will just go off. About plants your face into the windshield and you better hope there’s no one tailgating you from behind.

ABS or anti braking system. Keeps brakes from locking up or skidding.
Installing anti crash system on older trucks or anything that didn't have it factory would be a expensive job I'd think.

A guy at our old company says they actually turned his off last winter. I think it about caused him to have an accident when the roads were a little icy so he told them turn it off our get me a new truck without the braking system so they turned it off. We have a 2016 peterbilt and figure it would be really crazy expensive to install. Bottom line I think husband keeps hearing all this stuff and he second guesses why we got into trucking. So far it has worked out for us but now we are starting to feel the pinch on these outrageous fuel prices so it just causes worry.

And then the best part..... You get a call from safety wanting to know why you had a hard braking event, and their advice after the explanation is to just slow down more, and be more careful....

I doubt it will be retroactive. It would require a more complex computer system than what a truck has if it’s ordered without the system. It will probably just be required on new trucks starting at a certain model year. You can’t just add all the sensors and the radar to a truck that didn’t have it to begin with.

Speaking of which, I forgot to mention the ongoing effort to increase Auto-Liability limit to 2 million or even 4 million.
