That's just unsanitary. I may have the occasional pee bottle. Sometimes it's inevitable in the middle of BFN, Wyomimg. My truck isn't the cleanest thing on earth, but I've never taken a crap in it. If I'm that desperate, I'll go squat in a ditch in 10 degree weather. Even pee bottles are kind of unsanitary to me. I've pulled over to the side of the road multiple times and have taken a piss in the ditch.

And also one of my first loads had a cable seal on it. I had a pair of cutters at home but i didn't take it with me to orientation because i didn't consider it essential enough.Zangief and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Zangief that sounds like a horrible situation to be in. Please report that trainer for crapping in the truck and while you were in it. I'd like to know the reason he didn't want to keep training you. It sounds like he may be making things up and maybe worried you'll tell them about his behavior.
LilRedRidingHood Thanks this. -
I would highly recommend to anyone who is going to be starting out with a trainer to go out and get a mattress topper of their own and bring it with them. It would definitely be money well spent.
As far as those cable seals go, I remember those things. I had a cutter back when I was driving before, but they were still a bear to get off. Hopefully, the one I got from my trainer will make the job easier.
Finally, for anyone who is looking for one, I found what I thought was a VERY good deal on a pair of bolt cutters at Menards for $20. They are 2 feet long, and usually the bigger ones like that are about $70-80. I know that the receivers usually have a pair of bolt cutters we can use, but I've been to places that were really busy and I had to wait around for other drivers who were using the receivers' pair. I figured that this time, it would just be nice to have a pair of my own on the truck to cut bolt-type seals off and be on my way. -
As you said, Goldenfan, I too would be interested in knowing what his real reason was for not wanting to continue training me. I thought everything was going pretty well overall, and the whole thing was a total shock to me when I heard he wanted to continue on his own. I've never claimed to be a perfect person, so maybe there are things I did that annoyed him, but if that is the case, I just don't know what it could have been. I asked him twice if there was a problem he had with me personally, and he said that was not an issue.
I also asked Aron if there was anything like that, but he said no. I don't want to make a big deal out of it with Aron by pressing the issue, so I'm just going to let it rest. My trainer can go his own way and I wish him nothing but the best. I will work with whomever Aron and Shaun want to pair me up with next and I don't anticipate any problems. I'll just listen, do what they tell me to do, and hopefully prove to them that I'm a good, capable, safe driver. Before long, I hope to be cruising the highways and byways in one of those beautiful blue Magnum trucks just like you guys.Goldenfan and LilRedRidingHood Thank this. -
On another note, I read about the last 500 pages of this thread before applying with Magnum, and somewhere in there, there was a guy who used to work for us who was singing the praises of a lady in Coon Rapids by the name of Kayleigh.
Well, the other day, I got to meet Kayleigh and that guy was right - she was really great! I had lost my cell phone, and even though I'm not working directly with her, Kayleigh took the time to look up a couple phone numbers for me and that was a huge help. For that reason, I just wanted to thank her publicly and say what an asset she is to Magnum.
If you ever read this, Kayleigh, thanks again! You're awesome!Last edited: Nov 18, 2022
LilRedRidingHood and 40AcreMule Thank this. -
There's this base station out of Lordsburg, New Mexico that uses that phrase repeatedly who yaps away on channel 19 from time to time. He's annoying as all get out because I'll hear him clear out in North Carolina even when I turn my RF gain down. Has a tendency to call people window lickers too.40AcreMule Thanks this. -
