Yes it's a standard ten speed. For some reason, the engineers at Freightliner and their infinite wisdom thought it was a great idea to not put any sort of a gear indicator on the dash or elsewhere. I know that's not really an excuse, but I feel like my incident would've been avoided if said gear indicator was present. But lesson learned.

I-29 is rough between Omaha and KC, and the latter looks like a fustercluck. Id recommend I-80 to the east but that's not much better. Be safe.

I have owned many cars and trucks with manuals. Driven 9,10, and 13 speeds for years and have yet to see one that showed what gear you are in. I don’t think it’s just a Freightliner problem. The only exception is the Turdliner that I currently drive with the auto. You just screwed up, no biggie.

I don't think he's talking about a readout that shows the current gear. I think he means a sticker that shows the shift pattern, or the shift pattern being on the shift knob.

Should be one on the lower left side of the cup holder area near your right leg, and also on the top of the gearshift knob on a company truck.

I think you are right about that. I never saw the sticker though on the cup holder. I'm just gonna file this under the " #### happens " category and keep on rolling. Nobody's perfect. We're humans after all.

Man what a ####ty morning took me 4.5 hours to turn 165 miles heading up 81 to Schuyler, NE. Roads weren't that bad but I couldn't see anything! Defroster wouldn't keep up, even with my winter front on, the wind chill mixed with heavy snow blowing at a 90 degree angle straight at me just kept icing everything up, had to stop 4 times to scrap/beat snow and ice off the windshield and wipers. I was supposed to be picking up in Crete after Schuyler but I said screw it, snow wasn't gonna stop till this afternoon and Crete is a s-show when it's clear and dry lol. So I shut down foan 8 hour break. DM found me a different load outta Aurora, so even better. I'd have kept rolling if I was loaded, but dropping and hooking at Crete after a morning like this NO THANKS!...ya know it's funny, I never used to shut down for anything, but when it becomes your own truck and business, you weigh the risks a lot more

You’re exactly right. Nobody’s perfect. No one got hurt. Nothing damaged too badly. Live and learn. Don’t give up on the manual though.

The wipers on the newer trucks are about worthless in any real snow.
