I was told that to have stacks on the side they won't put the fairings down the side.

Thanks for the tip. I did some digging and you’re both right. You can get side stacks on a 680 nextgen and it looks like you can’t get the side fairings with the stacks. At least this truck is ordered that way. Basically a regular 680 with the nextgen hood and bumper. That would eliminate my issue with the super low side fairings. 6A60A627-1A09-4921-A607-EA0BA54C2AC1.jpeg

not a bad looking truck, for what it is anyway.

Edit to add: We are going to smaller fuel tanks and smaller enclosed headache racks, at least compared to my current truck. That leaves some dead space behind the side fairings in front of the drive axles. With out those fairings we can put a larger step box.

That is a nice looking truck. But if SPD is going for the fairings for aerodynamic fuel saving that probably means a weed burner

Smaller fuel tanks are gonna suck. A friend worked for Fraley Schilling. They had super light trucks. 1 fuel tank, mini size sleepers, no APU, super singles. All spec'd so they could haul up to 50k lbs. He hated having to fuel daily. At Creaffer we had smaller fuel capacity as well, and it sucked...larger fuel tanks are necessary, especially running out west as much as we do.

Good thing I got good miles in on this pay period before this 34. When they sent me the load info for this load to FL last week, Ops knew I would be empty and doing a 34, and would be ready before dawn this morning. It's after noon eastern and I am still waiting for a load. You would think that almost a week of lead time that they would have been able to find something or decide where to deadhead me to get something. FL freight sucks I know, but they normally deadhead me out of here to keep me moving.

As I drive down Kansas 54 I’m thinking man if your new trucks are turned down to 455 hp like ours good luck pulling over dimensional freight.

I’m headed into a 28 mph headwind with a couple of Deere 210 backhoes and maintaining 65 mph is a struggle.

Turned down to 455? My Swedish Dog is already around there...and it pulls better than the PACCAR powered KW I had...except in 12th, which is a gear I ignore totally in this truck because 11th and 12th are governed to the same top speed so it's 11th to 13th.

I believe the majority of the fleet will be in full on t680 next get trucks with all the aero side skirts and weed burners. Our OTR solos and teams all run weed burners currently. Just us 10 t800 have dual exhaust stacks.
I should have been more clear. I believe we are going back to our normal fleet spec. My current truck has twin 150’s, I believe most of our fleet has around 225 gallons total capacity. What does your truck have?

Of course all this is just speculation and rumors at this point. Won’t know exactly what we are getting until it shows up.

I’m taking the first two weeks of April off and the new truck should be in Washington by the time I come back out. Hopefully.
