That's actually right around the rate I thought the broker was getting it for. Now I have some numbers to base my rate around when I go around town knocking on doors. The place we pull out of the most I wish we could get hooked up direct but they don't do that there. This shipper is using a logistic service called Bluejay solutions and every carrier, even the few bigger ones in there have to go through them.

My uncle does power only with a company that has about 25 drivers and 40 or so wagons and my uncle said it's the same rate we're getting

    Naturally, Greed is bad.
But truck drivers on the spot market are almost like the Franciscan Order, finding virtue in poverty while providing valuable service to humanity. Whatever we get paid is not based on our greed but on the necessity to maintenan the aforemantioned service.
Can't you see the difference between what we are - the modern day flagellants - and what are the brokers ?!
There is never greed, never was greed and never will be among owner operators. The biggest rates that you can ever imagine, is what we deserve.

Granny says she'll run this lane for fuel money and a bottle of prune juice!

That's the track we're going down in this market!

Las Vegas NV has entertainment tax, the more I entertain my clients the more I charge them.

For example a joke costs the client anywhere from $25 to $125 on any given job. Just depends how hard they laugh.

Greed is a natural thing for humans. It’s only recognized in others. When it’s our own greed, we see it as justifiable, earned, just Business, what it’s worth. Pick a phrase. I never understood those who are willing to work for less pay or in worse conditions when they have better opportunities available. One should always strive for more. The mentality that I’m only worth X amount is self defeating and unfortunately believed by an awful lot of workers. The reality is those who do the actual physical work deserve better pay. Period. Workers are brainwashed these days. Most take the path of least resistance because they’re Lazy. They make excuses, blaming everyone else for their Lot in Life. We’re all in this current situation, together. To a point. If I suddenly get a contract paying very well, I’m not sharing all the details with the rest of you. Nothing personal. Am I greedy? O/O’s are most certainly greedy. Wether it’s bidding against one another to get the Load, ( greedy ) or Leased onto a Carrier, especially one that’s all O/O’s. Not much info sharing in that case. They’re competing against one another. I never see any Landstar Drivers talking to one another, or running together. There’s always those who kiss ###, trying to win favor. They’re the ones who smile in your face, while trying to manipulate situations to they’re favor. I’ve seen plenty of that while Leased. One Guy used to pick up 4 loads to Cleveland from Detroit, all on a Friday. Stack them up at his Farm in Ohio. Then run them on sat and Sunday. Only leaving a few loads. I’d be lucky to get one, while trying to work extra on the weekends. Often none were available. Another time, at another Company. I was off 4 mos. for back surgery. Another O/O that I had mistakenly befriended covered my dedicated run. He even stopped by around Christmas to check up on me. Asking if I planned on returning or not, while drinking a beer in my living room. I suspected he was rooting against me. Sure enough he was sweet talking the new Dispatcher. Going to the bar, buying him drinks. Lol. They both tried to force me off my run. Couple of real Losers. I went over his head, and got my run back, as originally promised. Never talked to that Driver again. Just a dirty look whenever I saw him. He quit soon after. Never quite got along with the Dispatcher either. No problem. That was my motivation to get my own Authority. I can’t stand working with others. No tolerance for BS people and their lame antics.

Judge, you wouldn’t happen to have her number by chance? Big Bunks getting lonely out here running solo. I’ve got plenty of room for her and one or two of her friends. Tell them my fridge is stocked up. Lol.

    Sorry, can’t help.
Besides with a couple of them in the truck, you could get an overweight ticket.

You sure have a lot of mental gymnastics when it comes to your own money versus someone else’s money.

Providing a valuable service to humanity would mean that if you stopped doing it then society would suffer. And it wouldn’t. That’s what determines the value, not what you think you’re worth. I’ve been home for two weeks and the company I’m leased to is still running like a top so I’m no different.

The reality is that it’s way too easy for someone to decide that they want to also provide a valuable service for humanity. And when there gets to be too many people providing that valuable service for humanity then the money you get for providing the service will drop.
