The only treatment any doctor or nurse gave me for a stye, that terrible grating staph infection you get in your eyelid/eyelash area and surrounding mucosal tissue in your eyelids, is a hot wet compress (hot wet, clean rag).

Frequent washing and hot showers are good for most people. Otherwise you need regular hot compresses (dry is much less effective to encourage draining) to accelerate recovery. 15-60 minutes at a time as frequent as life permits.

As a kid we always rinsed any eye infection with mild salty water. Two to three times a day.

You can get eye wash cup at chemist usually, and make you own salt water.

Best way to prevent a stye in your eye is by washing your hands. You get that live bacteria on your fingers and into the eye. Just saying !

I had one when I was 4 yrs old. They said let’s play a game. They held a sheet, had me hold my arms at my sides, and turn in circles, wrapping it around me, then held me down, and lanced it with a needle. It was horrifying. My Grandad said he could hear me screaming while waiting in the parking lot. Lol.

But you learned to not play any more games, so ... there's that.
