A ramp is much safer than just sitting on the side of the highway where you have people that go by you at 70+ that don't move over.

BigR, xlsdraw and Vic Firth Thank this.

And yet, of all states, California allows you, and encourages you to use off ramps and on ramps on the 8,15,40 out in the desert.

BigR, ncmickey and cdavis188 Thank this.

I've done that before, but sometimes there's a dirt lot near the interchange, so I park there if I can.

But it surprised me that California of all places has no issue with that.

    BigR and JohnBoy Thank this.

Best sleep is in Utah on an on ramp or one of those side pullouts. It’s 50 or so degrees, gentle breeze. Open the window and let the sound of the road drown you to sleep

    JohnBoy and cdavis188 Thank this.

If you left during the rush in the morning the security guy used to just leave the gate open and let everyone out. But it’s been a few years

Good on them. Unless you know some hidey holes there ain’t much in terms of spots to stop if you’re out in that area.
