Why though? What does it matter if they work 12hr shifts week after week or 24hr shifts for a week, then take a week off? They're working the same amount of hours in the same amount of time. Hell they're working more than you. 12hr days in 7 days is 84hrs for the week. I don't get why you care, they're not the enemy. Your boss is the cheapo that decided to not hire more dispatchers. They're working stiff just like you or me. If they both quit would you be able to do your job as well? Seriously, think about it.

Just like the people trying to push a 32 hour work week (Four-Day Workweeks Could Be Coming to the U.S. — Here's How) the misperception is that a shorter work week leaves you fresher to do a better job. My experience tells me differently. How you do anything is how you do everything. If you’re lazy before having firefighter hours you’ll be even lazier afterwards. Give people an inch and they’ll take a mile.

Depends on your definition of work. If kicking back indoors watching movies or playing computer games is considered work, then they’re workaholics. They have zero stress and deal with zero risk.

All while I’m gauging oil tanks in thunderstorms, pushing to pull five loads a night at 70 MPH around tarantulas, rattlesnakes and scorpions, in total darkness. fueling and cleaning the truck for an OCD clean freak day driver so I can keep the peace.

Not complaining about my job. I chose it & I like it but let’s not seriously compare what we do vs. what they do as equivalent “work”.

I mean the statistics show that shorter work weeks improve productivity and well being.

Idk how working 12hr shifts is "lazy" but whatever. And again, switching to 24hr shifts they're still working the same amount in the same timeframe. Were you a dispatcher too? Or are you just making assumptions? Yeah of course the jobs not the same, but that doesn't mean they deserve any less respect. They're still making sure you can do your job with minimal hassles. Do you have any idea the amount of administrative work that goes into running a trucking company, even one as small as yours?

I tell ya with all my dispatch does for me I swear I dunno how I'd get my job done. I mean I have to call them at least 5 times for a pickup number when they tell everytime there isn't one yet it's for the same customer I go to everyweek and gues what? there's a pick up number. Have to call them at least twice once I'm there before they realize oh yeah there is one. every #### week. That's just one example. So please tell me just how they are making my job easier?

I guess if it’s on YouTube it must be true lol. I don’t know I think some people just overload trailers and don’t for a minute think about the load limits on them, I’ve been hauling this trailer for a long time now and its held up fine for the most part. You’d be surprised how little damage the tracks do, the blades well that’s another story.

The real damage comes out back when the unit flexes the deck and it rubs against the dock, I try to put a little gap between the dock and the back of the trailer but it doesn’t always work. As far the rails, I’ve never had a problem with the strap bar, now the idiots who chain to it, well that’s on them…bummer about the sub 600 mile day, I call those a win, for you I know they drive you crazy.

I like to throw a big block of wood under the bumper if I’m rear loading equipment. Spreading the axles help with the sag too.

idk what the deal is with the strap bar, it’s in the same place as our other trailers that have them. It’s even the exact same profile of aluminum as the rubrail. Don’t like the strap bar, just strap to the rubrail?

Knocked out 640ish today and I’m 1/2 a mile from delivery. Then a 650 mile deadhead to Fort Worth. Someone has to put the miles down around here! Haha

I got the final specs for our wing trucks today. 510hp/1850 Tq so that’s nice. Really the only thing missing is the table in the bunk. Hopefully we have a solution to the lane departure. There’s a switch on the dash to temporarily turn it off, I hope we can adjust the time on how long it stays off. Having to hit the switch every 15 min when I’m pulling something wide will be real dumb. But that’s the life of driving a bean counter spec truck.

Hopefully, the lane departure system will drive one to drink…it’s soooo annoying. Yeah even when unloading in CA I open the axles up, otherwise it would be like watching someone use a diving board into a pool lol.

Good luck with the new trucks, at least you’ll get real power :)

When i had one of those trucks with lane departure it had a little camera system on top of windshield . i found you can snap it out of the housing and point the camera towards the dash .. no more of that stupid noise.. That was on a 2015 truck .. Not sure if they have upgraded to newer technology since then

Well, they're giving you the number you need. I'm also guessing you're not the one booking loads, setting up appointments, paying accounts, juggling x amount of other drivers and their issues. That's just off the top of my sleep deprived brain.
If it's the same customer that you keep having issues with the pickup number, that sounds like either the customer's load info comes in weird, or whatever program your company uses to send the drivers the info is missing a spot for it or something. Once or twice I could see human error, repetitive issues like that probably something with a computer. Yeah it should probably be fixed, but that's on someone being to cheap to fix it.

    I couldn't help myself...force of habit I guess

Looking at doing a 700+ day after my break. If I would have pushed another 100 miles after getting loaded Wednesday, I could have made North Bend by tomorrow and had a 34 in before delivering, but I was hot, sweaty and stinky, so my brain said to park as soon as I found a spot.
