Called the owner who said to take off until the a/c or windows are fixed. Lazy, arrogant low level office workers will always be the bane of a driver’s existence.Itsbrokeagain, mdmgolfin, motocross25 and 6 others Thank this. -
Let them sit in it and see how it feels. Bet that changes their tune real fast.
Gearjammin' Penguin, D.Tibbitt, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Even with all the delays this month from waiting for an escort, not being able to use the WV turnpike on the weekend with a permitted load and waiting for freight, I will still top 10,000 miles when I deliver this load on Monday. It helped to have the extra miles I got with the way they pay drivers for OD load.(they pay the hub miles because you're required to follow an assigned route on the permits).

Well last week was an up and down one for me. Started off dead heading from my house to Tulsa, dropped my empty wing trailer and grabbed a stretch flat heading for STL to load. Only problem, I was supposed to drop that wing trailer in Wichita for maintenance. Not a big deal but still a dumb move on my part, misreading a text message.
Loaded my 14 wide to Tulsa and was in Tulsa that same night.
Off loaded Tuesday morning and hooked a preloaded 15’6” wide box to texas. Unloaded and reloaded that same box for GA. Made it to Dublin, GA on the second night. The next morning,Friday, as I was fueling I found a big ### nail right near the Sidewall on a brand new drive tire. No big deal, put a plug in it, topped off off with air and I was on my merry way.
100 miles later the DPS was over joyed to inform me that I had a flat drive tire, my plug had failed. So I pulled around back and had the tire fixed before he could even finish my level two inspection. The prick still cited me and put me “out of service”. Even tired to tack on a citation for not having a valid proof of inspection on my truck, even though he never asked for it. He ended up removing that when I gave him the paperwork for the inspection. At least the double plug has been holding for over 1000 miles now.
Finished the last 15 miles of that run and unloaded and reload a different 15’6” wide crate back to Tulsa. This one even has the weight on it, I’m a pretty good guesser. I think I said between 10 and 15k pounds earlier.
Friday night I parked in Ringold, GA after fighting a particularly rowdy 285 crowd on a Friday afternoon. Right next to Bennett who’s now hauling a load we hauled for years, the horizontal stabilizer for a 767. We call it the widowmaker, we used to tarp this load outside in the texas heat.
made it almost back to Tulsa before my 70 tapped out at 67 hours and 3531 miles. All but 630 are oversize.
I’m running with some of my favorite escorts so we went and ate seafood. Overall pretty decent week.Last edited: Jun 25, 2023
