Cops have been aware. The new guy police chief becomes aware, goes judge shopping to an adjoining county to get a tame Magistrate (who has had 2 DUI's herself) to issue a search warrant.
Raid is made, it hits the fan, law ref search warrant is withdrawn. Mother of editor of the raided paper (98) dies of heart attack 2 days after her home is raided.
It also comes to light, the new guy chief (see thumbs in gun belt ready to draw in search video) left KC police at 65K a year to come down there at say $46K and some pending demotion due to some talk he spouted about a woman officer. The story gets really hilarious and will probably wind up in US Supreme on Freedom of Press litigation. Sorry for long outline, but it is worth following. That's just down the road from me and I hope they nail the Police Dept's ##* to the wall. Someday people will learn Police aren't your friend but merely govt agents who will trample their oath and your rights in the blink of an eye.

My daughter's boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage today!...and yes it's actually a good thing. Couldn't have asked for a better young man to take care of my baby girl! Sandy and I are pretty happy!... funny thing is.. and normally I wouldn't like this, and even he said he didn't wanna do it this way, but he had to do it over a video call. Ya see he's in the army stationed in Germany, he comes back stateside in February, but my daughter is going there to visit in a couple weeks and he wants to do it there at some nice lake he picked out. I can't fault him there, that's a once in a lifetime opportunity, might as well do in there. Very stand up young man, gonna be proud to call him my son!... though this day would be tougher, but she had a previous boyfriend that still might turn up missing if I ever find him... sooo.... I have a healthy Appreciation of just how rare it is to find a young man like this at 21-22 years old... so yeah, pretty good day fellas! Can't wait till the kiddo finds out! She'll float back from Germany lol

When I was running LTL a guy at one of my stops cold smoked his jerky and it was darn good. Don't remember all the details but it involved saltpeter.
