No, they want to be paid for 32hrs. Would you be ok if your boss told you tomorrow you're getting your pay cut by 1/4 and expected to do the same amount of work in less time? You're clearly out of touch if you think they won't get any sympathy lol I get in boomertown where you paid your house off 30years ago and survive on saltines and hard candy it may not seem that bad, but people that actually have responsibilities are struggling more than ever.

31k/yr? ########. In the 80's I worked with guys who worked at Chrysler, and they pissed and moaned about pay...they worked where I did as a 2nd job because their $50k a year job wasn't enough(in the 80's, $50k was good money)...the reason it wasn't enough is becaue they bought a new car every other year(at cost because they worked for the car company), had really expensive houses, boats and lots of toys. The reason people are living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford an emergency is the same, living beyond their income. My mom and dad lived thru the depression, my dad supported 7 kids on a blue collar paycheck. None of us ever missed a meal or ever did without clothes, school supplies or medical care (without government assistance), and my mom never worked outside the home. He did it by working hard and saving every dollar he could. When he died he still had thousands in the bank, and his final 3 or 4 years on earth, his monthly social security check was around $1000...and he could still put money in savings.

What's the difference between a terrorist demanding something or they'll bring harm on the country and unions demanding something or they'll bring financial harm to the companies...the only difference is terrorists cause people to die and unions just kill companies...in my book, they're the same

But if it wasn't for unions, you would be making a lot less.

they want 40 hrs pay for only working 32 hrs. The car companies aren't cutting their pay, the union is wanting more for doing less work.

And the ones struggling are the ones who had to live beyond a decent paycheck to keep up with their neighbors and budgeted their finances based on the best of times, not the worst of times. What we need is another Great Depression like they had in the 20's. That way people see what hard times really are and learn to live within their means. Boomertown? That's the way it should be!!!!! My dad and mom lived thru the great depression, my dad built their 1st house, and by the time it was finished it was paid off, and he NEVER had a mortgage on any of the 3 different homes we had growing up (larger family meant bigger house) and they were a single blue collar income family until the day my mom died...and we kids were never never deprived of anything we needed. No, we didn't drive fancy cars, or had fancy clothes, but we were a happy family...unlike today's entitled brats who have to go to therapy because mom and dad can't afford the latest and greatest that their friends have because they have maxed out their credit cards and aren't the Federal Government and just raise their own credit limit.

I agree, when unions 1st started, they were a positive thing, but what they have become is no different than the mafia, but instead of breaking kneecaps if they don't get paid, the break companies financial backs.

But like typical media… latching on to ONE thing that everyone finds outrageous..(cause they aren’t getting it too) and exploit that instead of doing some real reporting and seeing the other issues they are fighting.
And THAT is how negotiations go… ask for the moon and settle for a gain…
Unions BUILT the middle class. Business is ripping it down and convincing people it’s good…. Using the media to do it.

When I was young I worked at a fast food joint, an old fella we used to call Pap would come in and order food and chat. He told me that "unions made this country and unions will break this country".

Smart man. I have friends and family that are, or were union members...EVERY one eventually lost their jobs when the place they worked for either moved or found something to terminate them for (that they didn't do, but the union didn't fight for them when they needed to)...and we're not talking a fly by night company, my father in law and brother in law worked for BF Goodrich...one had to relocate to Alabama and the other took early retirement when Goodrich closed down their plant in Akron due to labor costs. And the friend that lost his union job worked for Summit County Ohio...
