Not even close. The Colorado driver did nothing to avoid hitting cars. This guy clearly tried his best to avoid collision with vehicles.

Some comments on the YouTube video say the driver was young, and also point out that there is no great incline from the two nearby gravel plants. We have a couple of shippers near there, I've been on that road, it's not a mountain grade, it's a valley floor. The speed limit on that road goes from 60 mph to 35 mph in town, so maybe that's where he got all his momentum.

Um...that changes everything. There's no way you shouldn't be able to stop under those circumstances. This ain't right.

That's dirty af. In fact, that needs to be challenged in court.

Why? It’s spelled out plainly when you buy your permit. You can get a ticket for being over axle as long as you’re not over what you can legally gross. Many states that have extended weight permits have similar provisions. If you’re overweight in Nebraska they will pull your permit and put a time limit before you can buy another one.

No need to wonder about the pre-trip, but I am curious when the last DOT inspection was done and who did it. Eighty percent of the brakes were non-functional?

    Also, from the article:
"The truck itself was completely destroyed. Nothing was deemed able to be inspected as far as determining the cause of the crash."
