Yeah, a few drivers posted that happened to them. They signed up for tankers, then were told they had to pull dry vans for 6 months or longer before tanker training. They all said "stuff it" and went to another company.

If you end up going with Roehl and whether or not you initially get signed up with flatbed or end up doing something like reefer, etc just complete your initial driver training and then talk to your fleet manager about getting flatbed training as soon as possible and request to switch to the curtainside division of flatbed. In my opinion after having worked in every division that Roehl has to offer, flatbed curtainside is unequivocally the best thing you can do especially considering the pay you get. You can even transfer into curtainside without ever having to do any actual standard flatbed work upon completing their flatbed training.

Either way works. I do think if KLLM or Schnieder will train you and hire afterwards, I think that's a good way to go. The more I think about it, I think it's better to go company sponsored training. You'll have a job right out of school. You'll cut out a lot of work having to apply and wait for results. If you know ahead of time that you'll have a job upon graduation then you can focus solely on learning and instruction in school. I think thats where a new driver's focus needs to be, so if you can cut some stress of having to apply and research all these companies that will be better. In my view, both places are as good as anywhere to get started.
