Right and any violations they do find will hurt you tremendously because its not spread over a fleet. A single truck carrier takes a big hit on inspections. Personally, I would never work with a broker that demanded I put my scores at risk. They're free to run their business as they see fit and I understand their stance but its not a request I would ever oblige for any broker.

PPDCT hit the nail on the head, fraud is at an all time high and this is an easy method to weed out bad players. It unfortunately has some collateral damage with good carriers that have never had an inspection.

So I went to the Nevada DOT today. It just so happens that the trooper that I spoke to in the parking lot is the same one that works at the port of entry on I-15. He gave me his cell number and told me to call him tomorrow so I can go over and do a voluntary inspection. On another note, I bought a reefer today for $7800 off of one of the mechanics at the yard where I park. These guys are friends now and are very trustworthy, so there won't be any issues. It looks like I'll be ending 2023 and starting 2024 on good footing.

Inspection/no inspection isn't simplest way to control double brokering. To resale load you need to have broker authority, registered as a broker on load board where you post loads. Isn't the right place to enforce it a load board? If you don't like double brokers why don't you use carriers you know well?
Inspection report will give you only answer how the carrier is reliable to deliver on time.

The way I see it, whoever is going to commit fraud is going to do it whether they have 10 inspections or zero inspections.

Anyway, so I called the trooper yesterday and he actually came to my yard to do my inspection! What a nice guy. The port of entry is literally less than 1 mile from where I park the truck, so he just came right over and did a Level 2. I passed easily and he inputted the info on SAFER right in front of me and emailed me the report. He also told me to go to the scale in about two months and have one of his guys do another one so I can have a few on record. The guys here in Nevada are really nice people all around. As someone mentioned here, YES, my CSA score was 77 due to having no inspections. Anyway, thank you guys for your input.

you guys would hate hopper bottom work.
loads are doubled, tripled and sometimes 4 different brokers on same loads.

They’ll get loads from each other, and say commodities are exempt.

That’s why i just haul for a select few.

No- what I said is it's the simplest weed out that most folks use. It's not the simplest method to control it. The simplest methods to control it would come from the folks who control issuance of authority and the data out there, (As you suggest, the loadboards).

The theory behind the "has inspection, can be moved forward in our vetting process" is that if there's an inspection or two, there's a truck attached to the MC in question.

As to "Why don't you use carriers you know well?" Consider the industry. For general repeat business, such as I have, I do. For the transactional loads that have no particular frequency or timing - it's harder for me to call up a guy I know in a given area and have him be available for me to send him the load. Thus, it goes out to the boards.

Right on, Gekko. Glad you got that resolved to your satisfaction. Hopefully there's no hiccups with data going forward and you have an easier time getting stuff booked.

Yeah, that does not sound like a good time. I had a gal who wanted me to quote end dump loads for a while. Nice enough, but at least up here, the dump guys are clannish.

411 assumes no responsibility. They simply state that all info came from fmcsa. Public information. CSA 77? Is that good or bad? I’ve never once looked at my CSA score. I guess that’s not very smart. Just never got all worried about if like everyone else did. Never heard of a PSP before joining this sight in 2017. Got accused of bein a phony by Zvar. Lol. Oh well it’s all history now. Finally got ahold of Internet Truckstop to cancel them. They never answer the phone. Took $70 out of mg account yesterday. I’m mad as hell!! Might get a partial refund. If not, a good thrashing on ttr will be in order. Glad you got straighten out. Great deal on the Reefer. Soon the Brokers still in Business will be bending over backwards to get a Truck. Be sure to hang up on them every time they give you an insulting rate. Lol.

I had no idea about the PSP either until 4 years ago when a company rejecting me actually sent it to me (rejection was for a different reason, though). I've been trucking since the 90's, all together. I remember saying to myself out loud: "Oh, THAT'S what they mean about personal safety score."

Now, I use that with dispatch.

DISPATCH: "We'll pay any ticket for overweight."
ME: "I understand and thank you for that, but I don't want an issue with my PSP."
DISPATCH: "We'll keep it off your PSP."
ME: "If you have that much pull with the Feds, why are you a dispatcher?"
    DISPATCH: "..."
ME: "Right. So, I'm not rolling like this. I cannot work around 2K over gross, even with nearly empty tanks."

I got the idea dispatch had no idea what a PSP is.
