Pulled into town a couple hours ago. After dropping at the Sam’s DC in KCK this morning, I picked up a load from Spring Hill, KS, dropped it in the ACT yard, grabbed an empty, and went home. Going to have Christmas Day off as well. I hope everyone has a merry Christmas

Happy Holidays to one and all. As it has been for most of the last 34 years I’m spending Christmas in a truckstop in Illinois. A little longer then no more.

When I applied, they asked for my permission before they sent the request to my previous employer (I had been one place for the last 11 years).

If you run OTR (Longhaul Van is the term of art here for that) you get long haul differential on every check of 6 cpm. The bonus is on a sliding scale depending on the miles you get in the quarter. It ranges from 4-6 cpm and is paid out quarterly as a separate check. I'm probably going to get 4 cpm this quarter (though I'll be really close to 32k miles so I might squeak into 5 cpm).

The Lightweight trailer mad me think of a senior moment I had last week, was at Crete looking for an empty after dropping, saw a trailer 3939AD if I recall correctly and thought, I don't know what account AD would be so I passed it by and snagged the next one I found. As I was hooking I remembered that, duh, the AD trailers are the ones with the FCC ad on the side. Made me feel really smart.
Anyway , had some excitement at home, my Mom fell and broke her right leg and ankle. It sucks because she's in Texas. She had some pretty significant complications and had to have surgery on the ankle. I've been playing phone tag with family in Texas, with the ex and the kids, as well as keeping Brendan posted (I'd rather know ahead of time if there is potential complication and I imagine most people feel that way).
So, when I got back home on Thursday night the ex and I piled into the car and team drove down to Mexia, TX and spent a couple days there (she camped in the hotel room and chilled) then hustled back here Saturday. Got back a little after 2300 on Christmas Eve. I already asked Brendan to extend my Time at Home to the 28th so that I can have several nights to recover.
It was good to see her but it was hard as well. She's in a lot of pain and has a number of things going wrong at once. Mom's a tough old bird but she's ready to go.
