Sounds like a Wylie recruiting slogan...'keep fresh meat in the seat'... We only have what, 150 OTR trucks...how many long term drivers are left.

How many are gone? I don’t know a single person that’s quit in the last 6 months. The last guy I personally knew that quit, bought his own truck.

Somebody is quitting or else we wouldn't have so many 'new driver welcomes" every month, and if it's a revolving door for new hires, perhaps recruiting needs to do a better job of screening candidates.

the bottom third of new drivers is vastly different then “long term drivers”. We’ve always had a bit of a churn with new drivers, I bet a lot of true long haul carriers do. Not everyone is cut out for being on the road for a month at a time. We also have plenty of issues that could make drivers leave.

a lot of people think if you make it a year here, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to stay for quite a while. Most of the guys I work with have been here a minimum of 5 years. We have a hand full of guys that came in with experience and have only been here less then two. Everyone else has been here nearly As long or longer then me at 9 years.

36 freaking degrees in Marianna. I freaking run the south to get away from this weather!

I still have yet to get anything from the broker about where I am picking up or delivering. And as of Arlington's quitting time yesterday, they haven't gotten anything from them either. I don't even know what the phone number to the broker is to see what the holdup is. So far 2024 is not looking promising, 1st load of the year is a broker load that can't get their #### together. And, since I am on mileage, there isn't too much of a financial insensitive for Arlington to resolve the issue since they don't have to pay me a daily rate to sit.

Got the load info this morning. Someone from the broker called and txt'd me the load info. For some reason the Macropoint app wasn't communicating with their computer. Then, someone else called from the broker a little while later asking me to turn on tracking. When I told him I can't because there is an issue with the app (there is still nothing showing on the "today's load" tab, only under the "upcoming loads" and it won't let you do the arrive and depart). He had me download a different app and redispatched on the load. Still nothing from Arlington as far as load info, but I got all I needed from the broker, so all is good. Trane A/C units, only with this brand, they build a 1by frame around the units and no shrink-wrap like the Carrier units out of San Antonio...much easier to secure and haul

TQL is a nightmare of a broker to haul for. Yesterday, after getting their app to work, I thought that everything was settled. Last evening after I got backed into a parking spot for the night, they kept messaging me asking to turn on the tracking on THEIR app, which was on 'active tracking', and I have the location permission set to "always on". Then at 00:10 I get a phone call from them asking for the same thing...which got ignored and my do not disturb was then turned on. All of which pissed me off and I didn't get back to sleep until after 1 am...then, I get up, get thru AL and stop at the MS welcome center to catch a nap...and the ####ers start calling again....if they don't stop, I will take this ####### load back to Panama City and they can ship it on someone elses truck and I can deadhead home and clean this ##### out. I thought this ######## partnership with Wylie was supposed to give us access to their freight in areas we don't have regular shippers so we don't have to deal with brokers as much. I have had more broker loads at SPD than all the other companies I have worked for combined since leaving Poly...

*Addition...I got up from my nap, updated my status and eta to Boulder on their app, walked in to drop a deuce, and no sooner than my ### touched plastic, I get a request for an eta to the 1st stop...Gawd I hate TQL!!!!!

I’ve had TQL pull the same crap. I refuse to download their Track app on my phone and I let them know, and all they do is continue to harass. I even delivered their load and four days later they were sending text messages to me demanding I put the tracking app on the phone that’s when I turn around and told him that I already stated your load has been delivered four days ago if you send another one of these messages mark my word you will not like what will come your direction from me don’t test me… I guess I got the hand after that one because they stopped sending the text messages to me but they’re a bunch of jerks

It's their formula. Turning over low paid rookies is cheaper than retaining and paying more. The "driver shortage " is on purpose.
