I was wondering if anyone could tell me what's the going percentage for having an owner operator working under your Authority without using your trailer.
Also what is the percentage roughly as far as Leasing my van trailer to them? I've also considered buying a flatbed to lease out.
I know there's a lot of factors fuel cards, escrow whatever so I'm just trying to sort this out and understand it better.
Also I'm I'm wondering if I CAN find anyone to lease on under me. My MC is established and the insurance is reasonable, but I don't have any direct shippers or anything like that to offer them.
Although I may have some hourly local work, but most likely that's going to be off and on, at least initially.
And for that I would need someone that's reasonably close to the Suburban Philadelphia area.

Insurance is the big one.Rideandrepair and Dino soar Thank this. -
I am only responsable for damage i cause directly such as bows being damaged because i didnt put them in correctly or hitting stuff.
As for finding someone, it would depend on what you can offer and how much you want to comprimise on the driver. You could easily find a chicago 1099 special illiterate flipflop wearing fuel island blocking retard within 5 minutes. But an experinced high quality driver is going to be hit and miss. Could have one in 5 minutes or wait 5 years and one never applies. Just depends on how strict you are, how good your loads are, and how patient you want to be. -
I also could offer them discounted truck repair in some cases and perhaps parking if they are local.

When I was hauling cows I gave my friend 15% for authority and trailer, I was finding all my own work. Later on when all I was doing was using his authority and pulling other people’s trailers I gave him 3%. Both instances I paid my share of the insurance and IFTA. I ran on my own fuel money.

You'll spend a lot of time clearing brokers if you have someone self dispatching. Even more time if you dispatch them.

When I load for someone else I pay 7.5% I cover all my expenses and own my trailer.

Do you have cash on hand or are you going to factor loads?
What are the workers comp requirements in your state?Oxbow Thanks this. -
You don’t have a lot to offer, and a lot of risk on your part. It’s going to be hard to make enough off the o/o to justify the risk.
Dino soar Thanks this.
