    Thanks guys,
It worked I just called and waited on hold till someone was available to speak with. Turned out the guy I was working with was let go. So I'm looking forward to starting a new career and hopefully I get a good trainer but I know its up to me to get the most out of it. A bit nervous but maybe thats expected.

Wondering how much money to take to orientation and for the 4 weeks out on the road?
I know this is hard to answer, maybe a rough estimate

    Check with your recruiter,

Orientation (experianced driver or driving school grad) or are you coming to Prime as a student?

I know when I started as a student 2 years ago... Start with at least the initial fee they collect... I think it was in the neighborhood of 125 dollars... covers your background check, physical and drug test.

After that we got a weekly loan around 200 to live off on the road. You pay that back at 25 dollars a week once you start getting paychecks.

I just recently started with Prime. I am goin thru cdl training right now to get my hundred hours in to do my cdl test. the instructors are knowlegable and help you with any questions you ask. after this i do my 50,000 miles as a trainee and team drive. then i get my own truck. originally i was thinking of going company but im wanting to take my wife and son on the road when i travel. and with the "baby" petes, i cant do that with no passenger seat. on the other hand i dont have alot of money so i was wanting to know what would be better, going lease on my first truck, or sticking to company and toughing it out til i get some money saved up then go lease? thanks

My advice would be to go company until you have this business figured out. Leasing a truck means that you are starting a small business - truck drivers without experience make really lousy businessmen.

You can change your status from company driver to lease operator any tiime you wish. You can't go the other direction, and it is quite easy to loose your a.s.s. as an inexperienced lease operator.

You are not an employee of Prime until you have that CDL, and they advance you $200 per week until you get your CDL. Once you are employed, training pay is $600 per week (before taxes) that is guaranteed if you are available for dispatch. Anything over 5000 miles is paid to you at the rate of 12 cpm.

If you're a trucker it's worth it. I made around $47,000 the last couple of years as a company driver.

The 60K miles should not take you more than 3-3.5 months if that.
