Schneider used to have a work visa program, I get it most Americans don’t want to live in a 4x7 box for weeks at a time for basically minimum wage when you add all the hours spent in the truck.

Dispatchers were nice enough at Schneider but the load planners didn’t know their ### from a hole in the ground and equipment was subpar at best. You know how FCC tries to get their trailers in every couple months? Schneider services them yearly. You know how we take our trucks in so often for PM’s? Schneider saw them maybe twice a year at best. And then there’s the pay which would take too long to get into
and then they wonder why they have such chronic turnoverBigR, bzinger and runningman0661 Thank this. -
I seem to recall not all that long ago that the ability to speak and read English was a prerequisite to receiving a CDL.
BigR, MidWest_MacDaddy, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
funny thing is that there were 5 other people in my class when i went to my CDL school and all of them were Americans. Although it was a private CDL school in a smaller town in northern Michiganbzinger Thanks this.

They bypassed that rule a few years ago. A guy the other day was using an interpretation app on his phone to communicate with the shipper. I’m sure the shippers and receivers love dealing with that.BigR, MidWest_MacDaddy, IH Truck Guy and 5 others Thank this.

Morton has never been quick. Spent many a day there waiting to load back in my flatbed days. Leave out at 3-4pm and truck all night to make delivery in Burlington WA before they closed the next day.bzinger and runningman0661 Thank this.

Yeah, I’m sorry you had to do Morton.bzinger Thanks this.

Is that the place you have to go through a “safety” briefing before they let you in the gate?bzinger Thanks this.
-
Back then (early 2000’s) had to do some safety crap and then get a card to show them to get in. It used to be FCFS and everyone would show up at the same time to load because we all just unloaded in SLC. If you could get unloaded early and beat the rush it wasn’t bad, but I’d hate to total up the hours I spent at that place over 10 years of flatbedding.bzinger Thanks this.

Last paycheck and this coming paycheck i will have grossed $4,580 in two weeks. Not too shabby for a dry van company driver
dwells40, Knucklehead, runningman0661 and 2 others Thank this.
