If your apu stops working they will also get you a hotel room. That happened on my last trip to the other driver. He called weekend breakdown, there was no dealer close by to change the idle settings. 5 min later his pilot car was picking him up and heading to the hotel.

Ya know what grinds my gears? All the #### different versions of taillight wiring that exists. What was wrong with the standard 3 pin tail light. The trailer I’m pulling has two lights that barely work and they are this #### male pin style that nobody carries. IMG_6914.jpeg

Moore had Manac trailers with those. They would let us have 1 spare, and we had to bring the old one back. After Wylie took over, no spare parts were allowed to be issued without High Command's authorization, so it was snip snip, splice splice.

One thing it deters is theft. We use to haul glass to Laredo and drop it at a freight forwarder yard and a Mexican carrier would take the load over and unload it and bring the empty back to the Lonestar yard. Every time I went down there you had to inventory all your gear to make sure it didn't disappear. You could tell when they were needing a light because they would pull them out, realize they were the backwards plug and leave them dangling.

Years ago, I talked to a Celadon driver. They would drop loads at the border, and a Mexican driver would take them across. If the load was on a new trailer, that same trailer would come back a few days later with scab tires, missing lights, mudflaps changed, etc.

Moore had so many issues with that, they started sending glass down there on the oldest, most beat to crap trailers they had. The ones with no LED lights. They said to carry extra gladhad seals because they had a couple come back with those missing.

    Winnyf1 Thanks this.

    Oh look

What you're not seeing is my little amber engine shaped night light. When it first started coming on, every time I started my truck, I would get a pop-up on the display telling me I had an engine fault. Then, it quit telling me about the fault, but the light stayed on. Yesterday, it started telling me about the fault again. This morning I started my truck to move to a safer spot to finish my 34 and ta-da...the light went away. So, that tells me that I am going to Arlington after I get empty in SoCal...because it doesn't want any shop to know it has a problem.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Is this even legal? A piggyback tractor with stacked chassies...I didn't think the attachment point that holds the piggyback truck on was that strong.(And only a cross chain in the front and back, then one chain in the middle)

I used to go to Laredo frequently. I would drop my trailer full of Pharmaceuticals and a Mexican outfit would pick it up and bring it to Mexico City under armed escort. I would wait at a hotel for 4-5 days till they returned. Only thing that would get stolen was the glad hand seals.
Now they wanted to save on the hotel and driver sitting pay expense. So they use 2 trailers. You bring to Laredo, drop the trailer and go pick up the trailer that went over the last time. Sometimes that was last week or several weeks ago. Now they steal all the good tires and put bald tires on, siphon out all the fuel to the reefer, along with the glad hand seals…
Glad they are saving on the hotel room.

I don’t think it even happens in Mexico. I think it happens in Laredo while it sits for days or even weeks…
