1099 Shenanigans, Blackmail

i’ve been a company driver, and i’ve had employees, some that tore up somethings i didn’t know how, but never talked down and yelled at one.
And when it was over, it was over, i never threw it back in their faces.

I learned from an old guy i worked for, for 10 years until his death, machinery breaks, and if you weren’t tearing something up, you weren’t working.

The real question is how are you a 1099 driver? That in itself is illegal so I would bet pretty good money they are not gonna do anything. And if they do turn the company in to labor board. I would even threaten it to the owner if he smarted off like you say he does.

Well I would had busted his mouth the first time he ran his mouth but that is another story. You cannot let people walk over you, you give an inch and they will take a mile.

 

So working means damaging things? Not sure very many would agree with that.

 

didnt say damage, said tearing up, if you weren’t running the engine is at rest, it won’t tear up, until you go to start it.

 

Call it a day and leave. They won’t do anything. Worst case scenario they will file a claim and ask you for a deductible. (That’s what insurance is for, make sure to mention it to them) Do yourself a favor and stay away from Russian, Asyrian, Macedonian, Bulgarian etc companies. If you want to work for a 1099 company because they have something to offer than make sure you get opinion from someone honest who actually had experience with them…
I personally worked for 1099 outfit and it worked out great… however I hear more bad than good about 1099 companies.
