Good thing I never worked for any of those.

I've worked for a couple on this list, and lemme tell you, it was NOT fun. Learned my lesson the hard way. Now I do way more research before signing on with anyone.

that’s not to mention many have been going under lately, though the common response seems to be people blaming the poor rates, which is true to a point but from what I’ve been able to dig up on some of these closings is the apparent mismanagement at many of those outfits that went on even well before the downturn in rates.mjd4277, TB John, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this. -
All of their drivers thought they were layoff proof…
Look at where it got them.
Some of them are still looking for jobs and it been almost a year since Yellow ceased operations!Still undecided and Lonesome Thank this. -

Like mixing oil and water!
I can think of a few companies that had mergers that were supposed to work as one team but did quite the opposite..
TWA/AA
DaimlerChrysler
Boeing/McDonnell Douglas
Just to name a few.
Naturally, some of these mergers looked good-on paper or in theory.
But as the saying goes-just because it looks good to you doesn’t mean it’s good for you!Lonesome Thanks this. -
Any company with Ukrainian / Russian accents and any company near Chicago .
Is guaranteed to rip you off .
every trucker should already know this .HiramKingWilliams, celticdriver23, Anonymousproxy and 1 other person Thank this. -
And there are a lot of local cartage companies in the Chicago area that seem to be decent.
Never liked the broad brush....snowlauncher, Sirscrapntruckalot, 88 Alpha and 3 others Thank this. -
Drivers stay away from these companies:
Cobra Inc. based in Romeoville, IL
I found out they’ve changed there name 3 times. Started as R&D trucking and then Kornel trucking.
Europeans thieves that scam truckers paychecks. 2,500 escrow ($250 10weeks)
$240 deposit(first check) for the tablet in the truck. $75 admin fee every week (which is a scam) $40 accidental ins. All of these deductions plus your running illegal miles every load. No 10 hour rest and definitely no 34 hour reset! 30% of the load but they won’t send you the rate confirmation for you to see the pay out from the brokers. I left immediately after 2 weeks. Don’t waste your time!TB John Thanks this.
