Well I got chased out of the room by my third room mate at the friendly western hotel. I was asleep and he decided to take a phone call and started yelling on the phone around 1030. He was also standing next to my bed with a knife on his belt. He’s a pretty jacked dude and he was shirtless standing next to me while I was sleeping. So I left immediately.

Being polite or considerate is too much for many people. Lots of experienced drivers yell on the phone. I did until someone asked me why. I didn't realize I was doing it because I worked alone for so many years. The industry attracts people that don't have the best social skills.

Well my recruiter was surprised, but she just told me they would send a trainer to pick me up in Chicago. I told her that would be great and thank you! So back to the waiting game, but at least I’m at home. I’ll be driving Uber!

I would normally agree, but after this thread, I'm kinda looking forward to his YouTube channel. Will be interesting to see what it's really like.

Look at the bright side, considering all the characters you met just in your week of orientation, think of how low the bar is set for you. Seems like all you have to do to succeed is not be a homicidal maniac/drug addict/homeless prison escapee or whatever and you should do nothing but soar to success.

Can't wait for the next update!

Depends are you just starting up for the first time in the Transport industry or have you been around a while and just changed from one transport company to another as this was not stated in your original post? So we'll have to assume its your first trucking job, Tip # 1. Follow instructions, [ii] With flatbed regularly check your load restrains as there is nothing to stop the load coming loose and flying off if a chain or strap loosens. [iii] Do right by your company it works both ways of course, but if you show a good attitude and not be making excuses for taking loads, the only valid excuse is if it would be unsafe creating a danger for you or other road users then yes definitely don't take a load. [iv] The golden rule, if only everyone would live by it, yes its a Christian country do unto others as you wish done to you. Like being treated with respect then treat others with respect. [v] do your time if your new 6 - 12 months then move on to a better company if this one does not suit. Try and leave on good terms which will happen when you respect everyone, it will mean you'll get a good recommendation to any future company and the current company will be wishing you were staying.
