In Tennessee the sales tax is very high. No personal state income tax, but other taxes are high.
Kentucky doesn't tax groceries. I remember one time when Tennessee tried to coerce Kentucky grocery stores to take pictures of car license plates from Tennessee, in the parking lots. Of course that didn't happen. Tennessee was going to fine Tennessee shoppers that bought groceries in Kentucky. What a joke.

Nevada is great, summertime 12 months a year, except along I-80 in the Northern part of the state (Reno).

In TN my property tax is $1100 per year, no income tax, sales tax of 9.75% except on groceries. Gas is cheap compared to Chicago.

Nevada is definitely high on my list of places to move. Extra points for having tons of gold mining claims still available for the average hobby miner like myself. Plus the weather is probably the best , no humidity is a huge factor. I’d say right now it’s between Tennessee, Texas, maybe Alaska, and of course Nevada. I’m not in a rush though. Some friendly people on here encouraged me to wait, and after thinking it through some more, they’re right!

I was doing some research and as a homeowner with a job, Tennessee has the overall lowest tax burden. And man I love those gas prices, especially compared to Chicago! Still 4 bucks up here!!

    Unleaded gas is $2.90/gal.
NV sales tax seems to be 8.375%
TN max sales tax is 9.75%
TN has 4 seasons & lots of humidity, as Chicago does.
TN may get a 3 inch snowstorm 2-4 times per winter. But TN brines & plows the roads. Electricity is cheap due to TVA.

I have a relative that drives for post office. He gets like 5 weeks of vacation. Plus a future pension and health care. He's north suburbs.
