    Years ago - like in 89 -93 - i did the same.
And the things i learned from it was , A- if it isn't Supposed to be in or on the truck (weapons , alcohol , passengers , etc) , don't bring it . B- everything dealing with your license matters.
And then the one my father used to say , don't do stupid #### .
I 've done all the above one time or another , so live and learn .

Always toss empties, always put purchased alcohol in a non see through bag, always pull curtains when drinking and don’t open the door for anyone. Lots of miserable ######## around looking to make everyone else’s life suck just as much as their own, it is ok to have fun while you work (just please don’t drink and drive)

Brings back memories. in 35 years of trucking, been many a time I had a cold one (or 2) after another day of 600 mi of highway. In the old days, you had to look hard to find beer at a truck stop. Then Flying "J" started selling it right there in the cooler ! And some places had a bar right on the premises ! Hubbard Oh. comes to mind and a few others . But I will tell you, yes, I drank a few in the truck, but, all empties out of the truck before bedtime, beer carried to the truck in a brown paper bag, keeping things below the radar. Just my little secret. And definitely no beer before driving. OP should have stored the beer in his sidebox, just sayin'

yeah, that's the thing, I warned these guys not to do it, I said if you want to drink on your reset, get a hotel and I will pay for some of it, but nope, no one has yey taken me up on the offer.

I had one driver this morning call me with a flat, I asked her why the hell she was calling me. She said road service couldn't pull her out of the ditch she got into trying to make a U-turn to go back to the T/A to get the flat fixed. Now this and the other moron driver who I fired 10 days ago came from a small fleet and they both begged me to keep them on so stupid me, I did. To get it out of the ditch wasn't bad, $1100 but the road service bill for two new tires and one new rim is $1700.

I use to bartend and work in a bottle store, and a supermarket that had on off premise license. Went through training for license purposes - and ‘over service’ guidelines.

The body processes 2 standard drinks in the first hour, and one drink every hour thereafter.

You can drink 6 beers (5%ABV) in 5 hours, and blow 0.01 or less at the end of the 5th hour.

8 hours from bottle to throttle is a pilot rule I think.

The equation changes from male/female and body mass, but I used to have a breathalyzer, and tested it out many times.

Just some useless information I gathered over the years.

All this talk about alcohol just made me fall off the wagon for the weekend.

Disclaimer: I’m at home time at home.

You just really can't have it.in your truck at all. If it's open it falls under the open container law, if your under the influence in the truck you can be arrested for DUI if you have access to the keys and the vehicle is operational . In a cmv you only have to register a .04 to be DUI.
Was the alcohol in plain view? It's best to keep that stuff at home or if you have a beer on the road save it for a hotel on a 34hr reset. If your just dying for a brewski have 1 and only 1 for the shower. If you can't stick with that while on the road there's a problem.
