    I came home the other day and found an R+L truck in the alley, making a delivery to one of my neighbors. The poor guy somehow managed to flip his electric pallet jack over on its side. I went and helped him flip it back onto its wheels. This thing was brand new, still had the instruction manual taped to it, and now it’s already got some battle scars too.

    If he’s a new hire, I hope it’s not a bad omen for future mishaps.

    That instruction manual will still be their the day it goes in the scrap bin ..

    One guy retired this week without notice, another guy injured. Might be on permanent disability for the rest of his life. Already running short staffed, hiring freeze in place until jan 1 at the earliest, 3 consecutive 1 week vacation for 3 different guys.

    At least its cooling off. Gonna be a miserable few weeks. Be careful out there, 4000 lb pallets with a manual pallet jack can mess you up easy. Thats like have a toyota camry roll into you.

    This beautiful 26’ long wooden crate was today’s fun. Had a forklift lift it, put a strap and chain around it.
    The forklift pulled it, while a tele handler pulled along side to catch it, and I pulled forward with it.

    Had a pretty good week, only worked 13.50hrs Wednesday, pulled just under 60 for the week. I have two consecutive three day weekends, ahead and I’m not gonna complain.

    Yea I don’t mess around with weight like that. Did it once with a pallet jack and never again. No dock? No delivery. Our power jacks are only rated 3300 lbs. What makes them think a human can move it? I’m not going to get an injury moving a piece of freight. Call me a Sal but it ain’t worth it.

    Our pallet jacks have max:5000 lbs written on them in bold letters with a sharpie by management.

    Its nice they look out for us.

    Any of you guys hear of dart express? They’re for a dedicated home daily job in my area .58 cpm plus bonus. Start 1pm end 1am. Slip seating job.

    LTL should all provide Toyota/yale electric jacks.

    I hope the Zoomers generation says “fudge that, I ain’t doing that!”. So this industry gets better overall.

    it’s already a geriatric center at averitt, and aaa cooper on my neck of the woods

    Just my .02, but I’ve found that electric pallet jacks tend to more of a hindrance than a help.

    They’re fine if all you handle is product on CHEP pallets, but the LTL business certainly doesn’t work that way.
