Dropped off my trailers this morning. Put the truck in the shop. A service done, APU service done, but they said they can't fix the broken bolts on the alternator bracket, it needs to go to Carrier. So, until I get the opportunity to have that fixed, they disabled the idle limiter.

Got a load off the yard. A load of lavatories and galleys going to Hanahan SC on a conestoga. And...I still have my satellite box.

Yeah, sorry. As to what you actually said, it's easier said than done to move companies. Trucking is easy enough to switch and not have to uproot your whole life, or families, especially if otr, but you still lose benefits, seniority etc. People have different priorities. As for most non-trucking jobs, or switching fields, that's a whole mess.

It's not that complicated, enough to survive on and preferably have some leisure.

Any shop that can't fix broken bolts should be shut down and no one involved with it should be allowed within 10 miles of a toolbox. What. The. Actual. F.

The bolts are broken off flush in the aluminum housings on the engine. They're gonna have to replace the housings themselves not just the bolts...and this is like the 3rd time they've broken off like this, so there is something else going on with this APU.

It’s a garbage Carrier unit. I have one of those useless boat anchors on my truck. Right now the HVAC fan doesn’t work. I am about to have it removed.

With as rough as the engines run, it’s a surprise they don’t have more problems like that. They spend their whole life trying to shake itself apart.

the new units we are using are incredibly smooth and quite. More then once I’ve wondered why the guy parked next to me was running his apu on a nice night, only to realize it was actually my truck. It just sounded faint and in the distance.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

High quality Carrier engineering. Even their reefer units are loud, obnoxious and vibrate the fillings out of your teeth. I agree with @kylefitzy, the TK units are much more comfortable to have, not sure if they're any more reliable.
