I don't know what it's lime where you travel, but often when I was not on linehaul, I'd check Google maps with the satellite view and see if there was an area near the receiver to park, often I could park just outside their gates on the side of the road. That saved a lot of headaches.
Other than. That, like others said, starting early in the day makes a big difference. You are ahead of the crowd that way.
Which law should I break today? Trip planning and parking.

The problem with Trucker Path is the parking isn't accurate. Nobody knows how many spots are open because most never drive the entire lot. Your best bet is to either runs nights or join the rest of the solar powered "drivers" and shut down as early as possible.
On the East coast parking is brutal! Ramps suck too. You're always parked on some sort of slant or possibly soft ground. You could get plowed in when it snows with no facilities etc etc.
If I were you, I'd get all the contact details for the pick and the drop and call them. Be very nice, respectful and professional when you call. Find out if they have parking there. That seriously helps your trip planning. Parking is by far the biggest hindrance.77fib77, hope not dumb twucker and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Don’t avoid the hard to back places. I’m the most impatient person in the world…..but even I have time to help a guy or at least wait on him.
An ol guy I thought a lot of told me one time hell boy they go backwards just like they do forwards. You can back yourself in a hole you can’t pull out of.
I pull a 53 spread, I’m older I don’t see as well and i don’t trust my spidey sense like I used to. So I get out and look a lot. I get honks and the bird and who knows what else. I just blow em a kiss and mumble kiss my ### jerk wad under my breath. As getting in the hole unscathed is way better than not getting in at allDeere hunter, TXCOMT, PSM379 and 12 others Thank this. -
Start earlier. Park earlier. Don’t plan on running out your drive time if it’s going to put you in a bad spot later than 1700 or so. Start looking for a parking spot earlier even if it means not running out your clock. Unless you have hard appointment times each load everything usually shakes out by the end of the week if you end up shutting down early to get a spot.
