Ewww.... I have a weird memory from that area... I was in a cabover going to a Proctor and Gamble place just East of there... and Schneiders directions ASSUMED anyone headed there was coming from the West and said "exit I-70 at Broadway. Turn Left.... as SOON as I turned, I KNEW what the problem was. I made the next left on Blair and looked at the STL city map to figure out how to get back to Broadway. I was stopped in front of an old school, and was SURROUNDED by abandoned buildings. I could see silhouettes and shadows moving around in the buildings, along with eyeballs staring at me. One dude came out with a set of cutters. I yelled to him, "don't bother, it's empty" he cussed me out and went back to the shadows. I went to the next block and made three right turns back to Broadway and found my pickup place on the left about a 1/4 mile or so from 70. The guard just stared at me when I talked about my bad directions. He just said "YOU went there.... now..? The cops don't even go THERE in the daylight. (It was about 2am) This was back when that part of STL was a lot worse than it is now.

You're missing out on all the fun..

I don't know why this is age restricted, unless it's just because of the sound of an SKS somewhere to the left off camera..

Oh yea I don’t doubt that one bit. Used to years ago before the new I-70 bridge it was VERY easy for someone who wasn’t familiar with downtown to leave a Cardinals/Blues/Rams game and end up across the river. Then once over there, you never knew where you were because all the street signs were stolen. This was before gps and smart phone. I’ve heard many tale that there were cops on the other side and would escort lost cars back to the interstate to get them out of there. It was always fun down there peddling freight you never knew what you were going to see. One of my favorites is the time a dude was pushing a shopping cart up the sidewalk full of shoes and he was barefoot.

Are you referring to people accidentally ending up on the McKinley Bridge...? I can't think of many places worse than East STL, but Brooklyn would be close.... but I was still in STL, just around the College Hill area.

Forgot to update about Jefferson for those interested. They moved all the trailers to the business west of the plant after the drainage company moved. Check in with the guard, then empties go in the blue, loaded are in the green. Right now you go out the way you came in and stop at the guard on the way out. But he said they’re trying different things to see what works best for traffic because there’s not much room.

No taking the MLK or the Eads. That’ll dump you right out into East St. Louis. People would realize their mistake, get off the interstate to turn around and get lost. Much like the scene in Lampoon Vacation.

The guy yesterday said the plan is to check in and then go out between the east side of the building and the railroad tracks, stopping to get your paperwork and have your seal checked on the east side. They don’t have total control of the old warehouse yet so the only way to have traffic going one way in the yard now is to grab the loaded trailer, go out to the street, then come back into the yard for the paperwork, and then loop the building again. I don’t see why going in and out the same gate is such an issue. We survived the other place fine. It will probably be a cluster until they figure out a solid plan.

Strange. Ya, the other place on the river was easy in n out. Drop trailer, check in, grab n go.

hope they get it figured out.

I think the Statute of Limitations has expired. Had a misadventure 20+ years ago in my orange cabinover. I was in Chicago and the directions assumed you were heading west on 90. The exit was only on the westbound side so I took the next exit going east and wound up running my big orange truck through the O’Hare departures drop off to get turned around.
