That's Cummins. There should be the low coolant level warning light, then the critical warning light at which point the coolant should be added. Also, watch the temperature gauge.

Low coolant shut down should come on before it has a chance to get hot.

Electrical tape stretched tight multiple layers covering an inch or 2 in both directions should work better than duct tape. I had a hose blow a pinhole in the rubber portion and drove it home 8 hours like that with no issues.

I would drive it if your bobtailing, if not then I might have them come fix it. Seeing how your a new owner op, use this as a learning lesson, when you get home, go through your truck with a fine tooth comb and replace every hose and line that you can find that looks anything like it is weathered, coolant lines love to blow at the worst times and become a pia.

Yup. Also a good idea to carry spare hoses clamps and such as well. Most dealers can get you all the hoses and clamps for around $200-500. They also sometimes sell complete kits for O/Os though most of the kits like the one for my lonestar are an inhouse made thing. Also a good idra to carry 2 or 3 5 gallon buckets just incase. More then once ive had to do a roadside coolant repair and drain some/all of the coolant to get at a broke clamp or hose.

I replaced both hard lines (#20 and #35) after about 7 years. The ends where the packing seal\nut are (just above #15 and #40) were eroded and wouldn't seal. A fair amount of material loss either from vibration or electrolysis. Buy some 5 gal buckets and drain the coolant to below the lowest fitting. I don't remember the size of the gland nut but a large crescent wrench will work. Be careful to burp the system after refilling or get a radiator vacuum

I bought this Amazon.com but I'm sure others will work just as well

Drove it down here no problem. Warning lights didn’t even come on but I am almost out of coolant. Of course they won’t have the part until tomorrow. Tried telling me it would be a week due to the holiday. Thankfully I convinced them to sneak me in tomorrow so I wouldn’t have to stagger around this town like a hobo for the next week.
