Stay away from 1099 companies, they most likely do not have workman's comp on you and if you get hurt, you will be on your own.

1. All of the negative things you hear are greatly exaggerated. Like you said, all a bunch of whiney snots! You'll do fine!
2. No touch freight is the norm.
3. Many will.
4. You'll find the trucking industry is very compassionate. Simply park your truck. Take the money owed to you, go off to Europe and come back when you're ready, sign a new agreement, hop in another truck and go make money again. They'll take you back with open arms.
5. Pick whichever one gives you a warm fuzzy. They're all pretty much the same.TripleSix, austinmike, broke down plumber and 7 others Thank this. -

Those Chicago 1099 usually don’t fallow the laws. That why they pay you 1099 not w-2. So when they give you a truck that not DOT legal or won’t fix the truck, you have nobody to say anything to. They can just refuse the fix your truck if it needs tire or something.
Someone post about a load they put on him to go pickup. He told them he did not have enough hours to drive. They blamed him for not picking up the load anyway and was charging him the money for load not being picked up. What if the delivery requires a lumper fee of $300 and the Chicago trucking company refuses to pay it and says you unload it or pay it yourself ? Who’s pay for the fuel ? What if they say you have to much idle time and you pay for all the fuel you burn running the heat all night ?broke down plumber Thanks this. -
