I think many drivers can relate to this, i hope. I guess it could just be me. Here it goes. I have lived in the midwest most of my driving career. Miami, Ok to be exact approximately 18 mile from Joplin Missouri. When I first started driving otr it seemed like every company sent me straight east. I would live on the east coast until it was time for my home time.
This might sound sad to you all but I think I've only been to Washington State twice and Oregon 3 or 4 times. I have been to Cali a dozen or so times. Utah and wyoming plenty of times. I have always been solo I have never ran teams.
I am going otr so to my otr drivers what percentages of loads do you think go west if you stay out 3 or 4 weeks? I don't mind running east but I hope its at least 50/50 or 60/40 lol. I also have 2 teenage boys that want to go west this summer. Tia

I think the road boys do quite a bit of California. Victorville has a Mars DC I know and idk what else they do. There’s a Walmart DC in Grandview WA that’s a pretty regular thing and they have drop and hook in Yakima WA. I’d think you’d have a pretty good chance of going west on the regular.

I do get some West Coast, Victorville, CA is a pretty regular port of call. There are a couple other places in Southern California we haul to occasionally. I've been in Oregon and Washington a few times. I wind up running the Southeast pretty regularly. We do go to the Northeast but I don't get there all that often. Usually Bethel, PA and then if you draw the short straw you might wind up with a broker load going back to somewhere near Nebraska coming out of the greater NYC area.
Usually if West Coast is going to happen for me it happens in the first couple weeks I am out. The last couple weeks of the tour I'm usually cycling between Nebraska, Joliet, Topeka, and Tennessee and Georgia. That said I'm in Indiana so I'm starting several hundred miles East and I think they have some trouble getting me home. Defining "West" as "West Coast" I'm out there 20-30 times a year. I have been on jags where I'll go two or three times in a row between Victorville and Nebraska. If you are running in the summer it's definitely worth running 70 through Colorado once particularly if you have a passenger and you aren't in a hurry. Some beautiful scenery out that way. The Northern route (80-215-15) has some great spots too particularly in Utah by the Wyoming line.

Thank you sir. That is good info. 20 to 30 times thats good enough for me. I would bet money in the summer if i told Dispatch I wanted to take me kids west they would try and make it happen.

We have a ton of freight that moves to and from California and the southeast. I can count on one hand how many times i’ve been to the northeast (i don’t know what your definition of northeast is) in the almost 2 years i’ve been here.

Unloaded here in Van Wert and now i sit until they find a load. I’m supposed to be home tomorrow and i only have 15 hours at the most between today and tomorrow to get back to Council Bluffs which is doable if i just head straight there, so they can’t really take me far out of the way for something

hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

Anyone running between I-29 to Lincoln and points west of there……..If you find you’re going to be out of drive time at night when parking at Percival or Syracuse isn’t going to happen you can jump off at Rock Port and run over to Tecunseh. There’s a new U Stop right at the junction that has 20 or so parking spots. I parked there last night and there was me and 3 other trucks. Then you can either head north up to Syracuse or west on 41 over to 77.
