Ok guys. I know y'all will give it to.me.straight. I've been stuck in dead end jobs at temp services where contracts came up and they decided not to hire me full time. My work history has some months gaps as well as a lot of short amounts. I am also a seasonal worker running stores and kiosks for holidays. Currently working for myself, mainly because though so many places say now hiring, no one is returning calls nor are they even calling for interviews. My question is, is that going to affect me when it comes to getting on at a company that offers driving school?

All the "we have school" companies are mostly not hiring newbies currently because of the suck economy & low freight.

As far as work history to fill gaps....self employed on a cash basis. Can provide a few letters from whoever saying so.

And those that are hiring, have ways to cover their butt if a person's "work habbits" become an issue.

You'll sign a contract. In that contract it will tell you that, if you and the company part ways prior to a certain date, for whatever reason, you'll owe the company for that "free training". Generally, thousands of dollars.

They are going to make money off you regardless.

It's not so much as not having a job, it's the fact that they provide pretty promises and ######## lies about hiring you on them bang, your contract is up and they can't keep you for some reason or other. I've even had a few that hired me on but suddenly they no longer need you. I was always early (if I'm 30.m9nutes early, I'm 10 minutes late), kept my head down, did what was asked and never mouthed off, even if a policy didn't make sense.

I guess I could have wrote that differently. But I wasn't trying to imply that YOU had undesirable work habits. It was meant more as a blanket statement. A lot of people have issues with their eyes, and just can't see going to work every day. :D

If only that was an issue....hahaha not really though. I'm so done with applications. Off the 350.ive put in I've gotten 2 interviews. I knew the second they walked in that it was over. I can read people pretty well.

I will clarify here. My husband is the main breadwinner and has basically told me to stop with the dead end jobs and pursue my goal of becoming a driver.

To further clarify, no I am not taking that as permission to slack off. I am actively pursuing employment but delivering until I find something or get into a job that'll teach me to drive. Looking into Roehl (yes, I've heard the horror stories and have been researching other avenues). I'm not eligible for the Work first programs my state offers, nor do I have a few thousand just laying around. I know I'm Gina be on the hook for thousands if I flunk out or get canned. I've been weighing the pros and cons of everything. I've been studying my butt off and have been asking loads of questions and lurking on the threads. I'm not going to give up.

I drove Uber for years and had no issues whatsoever getting proof of that from them. As requested by my current employer.
