We’re a mid-sized fleet (name omitted for privacy) specializing in dry van, refrigerated, and tanker freight, mostly local. I don’t have much of a background in the trucking industry, as my experience is more focused on specialized and tech-driven organizational development. There’s a company I know that has kept the same help for years. They’re in high demand to work for and the employees don’t quit. They have a basic philosophy. They pay better than anyone else around. They have good help that wants to be there and they can afford to fire the lousy help because they have no trouble filling the vacancy. We’re all doing it to make money. If we can’t do better anywhere else it’s amazing what we’ll put up with.
