I know that feeling - and only too well, and it's not a good one. But you never know what the magic figure was that would make them pause, and say - "Let me call you back real quick, I just have to check with (the guy that writes the fat check you just asked for) xxx"

 

Hauled a number of loads in to that place. The small houses were 3 to 5 million, in the undesirable parts.

 

Same guy can't figure out why gas station sushi rolls make him sick either

I hope I'm wrong - I really do. No malice or slight intended. Call me an a- hole if I am wrong. Just did a little bit of looking at the posts over a year and something didn't add up to me.

Here's how I like how this thread and forum works.

Six teeeeeeen foot wide load from MS - KS. Get stopped in Pine Bluff,AR last night. Flip hood, engine running. Accessory drive on 12.7 looks to be moving a little forward and back. take video. Stop engine, pull by hand - almost an inch out and back. No side to side play against the gear. It just runs the alternator.

Send video to @sawmill . Talking to bride, sawmill responds, I text that I'll call him after bride knows I'm OK.

Call @sawmill - discuss problem, he gets me a part number, advises to take engine serial as well to get part, may not be a good idea to run it.

Talk to my mechanic of 10 years - he advises same, includes - don't release belts, and "could grenade fan/radiator" if it comes apart. This is all at 7pm or later.

Pilot car and I set off to Little Rock,AR 0600 - I call @wore out on the way, it's his local turf - for parts supplier recommendations. I guessed lucky, when he calls me back, I'm at the right place in town. He has his own bad deal with his son's house and a tornado going on - so I'll call him back later when I'm done to see if there's anything I can offer to help.

@spyder7723 who doesn't post anymore - Ron Mullins out of Florida - Mercer - we've been friends for years through here, had called a couple of times in the last 2 days and I couldn't answer. I called him back to let him know I wasn't blowing him off - turns out - HE IS ONE EXIT AWAY.

Tell him what's going on - he has a delivery in Pine Bluff at 0900, I'm short 2 or 3 wrenches, he comes over at 10:00am, we change out the accessory drive in less than an hour, pilot car gets him some Chick Fil - A, we clean up and all roll out.

He's delivered in Springdale, AR, I'll get empty tomorrow, we'll go to the house and eat, drink and be merry. Happier to sleep in his truck in the driveway - has Gretchen's seal of approval as a nice guy, he's a good dude to hang out with.

@Razororange stopped by a couple of weeks back - same deal - good dude, head screwed on right, nice fella. Would have been a great interview but time was short, so burgers and chat it was.

Just good to put faces to names, and especially, for the roaming crowd - have contacts that can at the very least , steer you into trusted hands if you get in a bind, even if they can't or don't want - to help themselves. Sometimes just a trusted recommendation for repair can save a lot of headache.

That's the kind of friends and good folks you build up with a good network. And we all have Venn diagrams.

Something just wasn’t jiving about the whole thing, I hope I’m wrong and I hope you’re wrong (although you’re not an ### hole if you're wrong)
Heck, tomorrow PP may come back and post an obit and it’ll all be ok, but I have my doubts.
