That's the way to do it. That's the way I do it too. My wife cooks on Sundays for me for the week. Generally something easy to heat like a good soup, spaghetti/lasagna, meat n veggies or the like. I eat that bigger meal for lunch. At night I make up a quick salad pretty similar to what you have shown above. Dirt cheap, filling, healthy. Takes less than 5 to throw together dinner.

That crap shown above by the OP (sorry OP) is what's killing truckers. You can't eat that crap and sit all day doing nothing in a truck and who can afford it anyways. Add up 3 meals like on the menu above and you're at $420 bucks a week for food. We don't spend half of that for two people in my house and we eat a lot better.

Exactly. Where there's a will, there's a way. I used a 12v Alipcool off Amazon for years. I could fit an entire week's worth of meals in it. I still have it and it still works the same as it did the day I bought it. It works very well. It's a real fridge with a compressor, draws very low amps and has a low voltage shutoff.

I paid around $300 for it about 8 years ago. Funny thing is, it's even less than that today. While these greedy USSA based corporations are gouging their own people, these offshore companies are dropping tbeir prices.

Americans are literally being bled dry by greed. Don't even get me started on the theft that took place when the dollar was devalued when trillions were simply pushed fresh off the presses and into circulation. I'll digress!

I dont eat fried food, I only continued to walk to the Louisiana chicken place for red beans and rice. It was secondary to my original choice at the restaurant that was closed. But I wasn't paying $5 plus for a side. Several truck stops are designed for ppl to come in and out quickly. So Several actual sit down restaurants have been replaced by fast food crap.

I refuse to eat this stuff alot of times. And even when I'm truly hungry. If there's a Macdonald or etc in the truck stop. I will end up finding a grocery store plaza. Park behind the store and go in to grab some reasonably priced items. Or order Uber eats if there's a decent restaurant nearby.

Agreed. Where I usually run it's always easy to park in the back of a small town grocery store. Great place for a 10. Great place to grab some food.

Restaurant take out is a good option too and you can get a pretty good meal for $15 usually.

Use their APP. I normally get the 6 tender app special w/2 sides for what they have up on the menu for a 3 tender. Plus I earn points that I can use to get my drink or apple pies for free.

I saw it happening when the 2008 crash happened. Ice cream in particular caught my attention. Couldn't find whole gallon containers anymore and what was being sold was priced higher on top of it all. After that, I began paying closer attention.

You gotta download the app and use the offers, right now menu priced will eat you alive. I went to the TA in Oak Grove, MO last week, and spent 6 bucks and some change. 3 pieces of chicken was 6 bucks, but they had a side for free on there, and I used points for biscuits. The app works at Popeyes in any TA.

Not only is it healthier to cook in your truck and eat what you want but much healthier on the pocketbook as well… A win-win… Restaurant food has just gotten to be absolutely so expensive. It’s ridiculous. You can for sure if you don’t watch it you can go broke real quick eating out out here
