Sometimes we would do a rock out, or haul just 1" aggregate out to backfill the larger APS poles, when I drove a mixer.

I guarantee to you if tied somebody to that pole with no hearing protection, they'd tell you anything you wanted to know in under a minute.

That noise of the rocks coming down the concrete chutes is WTF deafening.

Stranger yet. I recently got a 40% VA disability for hearing loss and 10% for tinnitus. Based on close proximity to electronic communication devices for 2 years. I can sit at a table with you, and talk with you. I can hear you talking, but difficult comprehend what you are saying.
In the dinning room, the ambient noise of conversation, dishes being served, TV on the news, blurs me out. I have excellent hearing aids by VA, and can sit here at my computer and understand the audio. For TV, I have a good set of Bluetooth earphones, take out aids and enjoy.
Weird how noise/sound can affect your hearing. Cell phone no trouble. as my aids bluetooth off phone, so phone in pocket and we converse as I walk around.

Bet he did a Minnie Pearl at the citation ceremony.. "I'm jus so glad to be here with y'all"..

Remind me of the days running into New Orleans and seeing the boys from B'ham pulling sheet steel down there. Eagle & Deaton.
Old LJ Macks and Autocars, 32' flatbed trailers with 1 piece of flat steel maybe half inch to 5/8 thick, width and length of trailer floor.
One cross tie under it crossways at about 6 feet back and another say 4 feet from rear. A couple of 4 x 8 oak on top to run the chains over.
Idea was to cup or bow it so in case of a crash (or other sudden) it would clear the top of the cab and not slice the cab off at frame level.
Casual they were rocking and rolling down old US 11 on the Irish Bayou from Slidell into the NO docks.
    We unloaded cotton on Poydros
St wharf and they went further on down. Slwaus wondered how tjhey
Apparently the pitch/tone of the sound is as much or more than the volume/loudness. As in the stack of that Mack (a foot from my left ear)
while in the sleeper. 6-8 hours a day for 16 months, and it is my right ear that is the problem.
