I have... Before I set my foot in a truck and thought it was easy, but now, HELL NO!!! Before I got my CDL, I wanted to try everything, Dry Van/Reefer, Flatbed, Tanker, Car Hauler, but then, after my first 6 months out there, my tone changed real quick lmao!!! I thought it was just driving and that's, but nope! I start going to tight places, go through small *ss town, doing tight right turns, going to receivers where I have to back out and jack knife the trailer on the freaking road to get out because it's that tight, parking at tight *ss truck stop, going through the mountains ( which I absolutely hate lol )... Yeah... Trucking is freaking hard. One of the reason I hate the mountains so much is because I've lived in Florida for 13 years and never go anywhere, the first time I went out of state was driving this truck so you could imagine how I was going through Georgia to Tennessee on I-75 lol.

Yeah, Flatbed is daytime schedule with some night time, but not a lot, I'm usually shut down by 4PM-6PM, and that's why I don't want to go into Reefer cause I know how screwed their schedules are, I hope Dry Van is similar to Flatbed.

One of the biggest problems I see in this industry over the last several years is too many drivers come in here want to work bankers hours… Wrong industry for that

They're local right? I've seen a lot of constructions in Florida, might look into that. Also, I'm sure you drove your 11 hours everyday for that load, so you should have at most 14 hours left on your 70, you're gonna take a 34 in Winter Haven or Maybe Cordele? I don't think you can run recap after that load but who knows, I'm still a rookie.

You meant like regular hours? Yeah, I agree, trucking is a different breed, they are people who were meant to be truck drivers and people who were not and just doing it until they figured their life out, I'm one of those people.

Even local work is more grueling than regional or otr..try working 12+hrs a day in city traffic then having to commute to and from home..not much time to do anything at home..most local jobs are long hours.

No, the end dump I’m referring to can run you all over the country while making good money. I’ll post a pic for reference, you wouldn’t want to work where I work, I don’t think the money or the runs would be what you’re looking for, but I could point you in the direction of a few places. Can you shift manual? IMG_1521.jpeg

Yes, I did do a 34 in Winter Haven afterward. I had actually started last Tuesday in Clovis, NM. It was 139 miles to Hartley, TX. 387 miles to Platteville, CO. 1,073 miles to Grandview, WA. Then it was 3,094 miles to Miami, FL.

I left Clovis on a Tuesday morning with a fresh 70 hour clock and was sitting in Miami at 3:00AM on the next Wednesday with all of the above covered during that week, which was a total of 4,693 miles. Fortunately, I was able to use Ag Exempt on part of that Platteville load in the beginning, which enabled me to squeeze the rest in on that one 70 hour clock.
