Securing a truck loan for an older truck?

You gonna pay 40k$ for a 8k$ (at best) truck?

If you ain'y got ahead doin this for 22 years for someone else, you're not gonna get ahead on your own.

 

Hate to say it but if you dont even have the money to buy a 25k truck....then what happens when you blow tires. What if the turbo fails, a wheel seal lets go and you burn up a spindle, the rebuild was done incorrectly, or a billion other things. What are you going to do for fuel? Your going to burn $250-500 a day in fuel easy depending on what you do. And some customers are net 30 or even net 60. Do you have the cash to cover fuel for upto a month or more without making a dime? What about standard PMs? Do you have the cash for your insurance? How about your DOT numbers? It can take a month or more to get those. Can you cover a couple major repairs?

Do you have a customer(s)? a trailer? Where will you park the rig? Who is going to work on it? Do you own the tools books or more for day to day repairs? Would you honestly be able to get under your rig and hit all the zerks? Do you have a plan for an accountant? A lawyer? How about storage for hard to get parts?

Im not asking all this to be an ### mate. But many who ask if fiananceing a 25k truck is a good idea end up broke down, broke and in debt in a #### hurry. Becoming an O/O is not as easy as "find truck turn key" and there is a LOT of thought, preperation and money that goes into a successful startup. And id hate to see another hopeful broke and in debt to their eyeballs with a shattered dream because their eyes were bigger then their wallet.

I would think long and hard about that, does landstar even take old equipment? Also there onboarding a truck isn't an easy process, just cause someone signed a dot inspection on it does not mean it will pass their inspection, which could put you out of business before it even starts.
