They finally got done with it about a quarter till 10. It was a bit of a madhouse so it was pushing 11 before I escaped. Also got a free upper body workout. Better too high than too low but either is a drag.

My original plan was to update trucks later this year when my truck had 450k on it or so. I wasn’t in a big hurry because it’s only about a 6 week wait for a new truck. Then came the tariff talk. I kicked around the idea of updating before the price increases, but ended up not wanting to overextend myself just to get into a new truck. It was either pull a bunch out of savings or have a larger payment and pay more interest.

That put me in a spot of waiting to see what happens with supply and pricing later this year, with the chance of paying Covid-era price for a new truck, or running my current truck for another 1.5 to 2 years, pushing the mileage to roughly 600k while I see how the EPA27 engines do.

On a whim I put it out on social media that my truck was for sale if anyone wanted it. Turns out the same guy that bought my last truck from me wants to buy this one. So today I was up in Fremont getting the hardware removed.

Going to be a company man and give gas hauling a try. My training starts on May 5. It’s 5 days a week (my schedule will probably be Tues-Sat) home most nights when hauling fuel. But I’ll also be able to do anhydrous and propane when it’s busy to make some extra money. When I talked to him about a job about a month ago he was just getting ready to order 3 trucks and asked me what color I wanted to pick. I’m a sucker for a new truck. Lol. I told Trey today that if I don’t like it I’d be buying another truck and coming back.

You’ll love it if it’s dayshift. Super easy work and a good schedule. I have that schedule and start between 3-4 am.

Day shift, start around 5 or so. Anhydrous season and propane are out 11 home for 4, but if you want to stay out and keep working you can. He also has some hot oil trailers and liquid fertilizer trailers. Plenty of things to keep it interesting. The guys that only do fuel 5 days a week are at $100k give or take, the ones that go work during anhydrous and propane season are bumping $130k. Figure I can try being an employee for that.

This was my second year with no depreciation and I really dislike having a large tax bill even after I moved a bunch of stuff around to try and get it as low as I can.

I hear ya that's why I am hoping my f250 depreciation helps me next year or I'll get the overhaul done at 850k just to get extra tax savings.

Dropped in Topeka, grabbed an empty, and pulled back into town last evening. Still technically under a load even though I have an empty trailer. Plan is to head up to Aurora on Sunday to grab a load headed for Los Lunas. These New Mexico runs are my favorite and I sorely missed them when I was OTR

What's not my favorite thing to do is go to the county building and deal with the tag office, which unfortunately i have to do today. Thankfully I'm only renewing registration so it shouldn't be too bad
