I think I would have said "my flip phone doesn't run any apps. I'll need a company phone" instead of no. But I've had time to think about it. Many times these things come out of the blue.

Ain’t it funny companies want drivers to give and give and give. But companies don’t wanna give. Sounds like they lost a good driver. Their loss. Or they could just find a company phone. Good on you to stand your ground. They might even be testing their limits with you.

I'm an over-sharer but I learned not to share things with employers and speak more vaguely about some things to preserve my options later on. Part of that comes from being the employee that lived closest to a pre-trucking job and after years of sometimes discovering I was being asked to do things nobody else would agree to do. For the phone, my contact with reefer customers taught me to all but deny I even know what a cellphone is because they, and the brokers, have every story in the world and will demand things I think are outrageous. Speak to the employer like he's a cop during a traffic stop. Don't disclose more than you have to and more than you are 100% sure they already know. Almost all of my employers are great people and I usually eventually treat them like family or friends, but never at first until I notice what the long-time employees have learned about the company. Also, most employee complaints are just alibis for employee bad behavior disguised as "outrageous" employer behavior until proven otherwise.hope not dumb twucker, austinmike and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
