I previously got a USDOT number and MC number half a year ago but couldn't get finance and insurance approved in time. I finally purchased a truck and bought insurance but just realized I had to apply for application for authority. How long does that take after application submitted? It shows accepted, insurance OK Boc-3 OK but doesn't show when the operating authority would be active.

There’s also a limit on the amount of time to get insurance, or else lose the Authority. Maybe 90 days? I can’t recall.

    nikmirbre and WeTruckNova Thank this.

Yeah I havent gotten the letter yet of losing authority that's why I was curious if it would still redo the protest period again.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

The DOT authority protest period for an MC Number is 21 days. During this time, the FMCSA reviews the application, and any protests or objections must be filed. The MC Number is not activated until after this period and after all other requirements, including insurance, are me
If another company wants to say it’s going to interfere with their business… to many companies not enough work, they’re gonna interfere. Kinda like not letting to many burger joints in a small town, not enough people that’d keep the original place in business.

That's what it is called. It is basically a 21 day waiting period.

That is don't know, the 21 days is when you first apply for an authority.

The protest period is 10 days, not 21 days
