Getting off of disability and K restriction and getting driving.

Your family life is about to be non-existent once you have a class-A. You think you’ll magically start out with a local , M-F, 8 hours a day job? Try again. It’ll be garbage otr companies, or a local company for not much money, and 10-15 hour days.

 

Even so, it won’t be short days. Most companies dispatch on a 10-12 hour day. Throw in a delay here and there, and now it’s a 13 hour day.

 

Who's going to watch your kids while you're driving a truck?

 

Do you know the average trucker suffers from depression, some even anxiety. There are plenty of strange truckers at truck stops. You say it should be more difficult from when 30 years ago? Put the point from when did you know the old truckers likely couldn't even pass the new test? Pre-trip alone would stump them. Taking your test in a station wagon and a trailer in the old days you could drive what is now a CMV and they got grandfathered in. Don't get me wrong those old timers can back a truck but these new requirements are just asinine to some current drivers and even the medical cert is getting more strict lately and none these requirements doesn't mean jack if the person has zero common sense. You can train a monkey to drive the truck but it will never understand why it drives the truck. The average person doesn't know what a stick shift is, I mean, ask an 18-19 year old half, say it's for the car game or movie fast and furious and think its what makes the car go faster...
