Hey fellas, Old Dominion has already started laying people off here in Houston. City drivers linehaul and office personnel.

Dallas hub is redoing the whole linehaul board. Word is they’re cutting around 40 drivers. The reason? They don’t want Dallas drivers coming down to Houston, grabbing empties, and hauling them back. Most of the freight is already being picked up by Houston and the surrounding terminals anyway, so they’re trying to keep it all more local and avoid that back and forth.

40 drivers? Sounds like incompetent management.

hope their unemployment insurance goes through the roof.

wonder if they lost a large account. They should try and kiss some Tesla butt since they just moved to Austin, right?

That doesn't make any sense at all.
Those drivers are dispatched. They don't just show up, grab a tractor, and bobtail to Houston and pick up empty trailers on their own volition.
Dallas has likely lost a major account.

Just got my confirmation today…. I start linehaul next Monday. Hauling a couple 48’s up to Grand Forks and back to Fargo, then grabbing a 53’ and heading up to Fosston, MN and getting some attachments from a manufacturing place there.

Set for hourly pay since the miles are somewhat short, was told to expect around 50-55hrs a week. I’ll get paid for making and breaking my sets, and fueling.

Clock time of 0330 with a gate time of 0415. I’ll keep the truck I’m in now, which is cool with me.

    Gonna be fun!!

Grand Forks to Fargo and back. And then a pickup?

    Sounds like a decent deal.

I think it’s a good one. Not quite an overnight run, but a good way for me to dip my toes into the water here. I can pull twin pups ok, but have never pulled twin 48’s before.
