It would put the truck in the $1.50 range which isn’t far fetched considering there are owner operators with authority and a trailer trying to scratch out a living on not much more than that.

$1.17mile and you pay for everything?

A lot of these people going into lease purchase or owner operator ownership don’t anticipate that going in headlong not factoring in maintenance, insurance, registration, taxes and whatnot (fixed and variable costs).
They also don’t think about what happens when the lean times happen.
2024 may have been good for you,it wasn’t for a lot of people. You were fortunate.
2025 however so far is turning into a real bloodbath, for companies and drivers alike as recent events has shown. -
It’s not a secret who I was leased to and it’s not really a secret what the contract is. A lot of people look at the gross amount, I used to be one of those guys. And I always thought I needed to be somewhere with above average income. I wasn’t sure how a mileage contract would work out and I wish I would’ve made the change sooner. I’m not saying they’re all good, far from it. But without knowing the full picture it’s impossible to say if X plus surcharge is any good or not.
I was getting X plus surcharge and most would probably say it wasn’t worth it. But when you factor in the whole package I had more profit per mile last year than any other time I’ve owned trucks. My fuel cost hovered around 40 cents per mile. Getting my insurance through them saved me hundreds per month over what I was paying on my own. I could use their discount for all my parts at Peterbilt. They covered all tolls.
In no way am I defending WFX, I’m just saying without knowing everything it’s hard to make a judgement call. And if the guy wants to try a lease purchase I feel everyone is responsible for their own choices in life.JolliRoger, Opus, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
