And in this case, Swift policy does not disagree with the DOT regs in any way.

Maybe you are confusing company policy with HOS. HOS allow you to use up your 70 hour/8 day clock & immediately spend the next 7 days/168 hours on-duty and you have NOT violated a single HOS regulation. You cannot drive during those 168 hours. You won't be able to drive again at the end of the 168 hours on-duty. Your 70 hour clock won't reset or give you any drive time while staying on-duty for 168 on-duty hours.

You either don't understand what you are reading in this thread or misunderstand the HOS. Being stubborn & not having the experience are not great together.

    Please!
I worked for Swift for 14 years. I know how it works.
    You, obviously, do not.

Just curious though, which terminal are you out of?

It's your job to earn a paycheck. The govt doesn't have to have a plan for you to pay any bills. That's your job. The HOS are not meant to give you adequate income. They were aimed at reducing traffic accidents from driver fatigue. You knew the HOS existed early on. Now you live with them or pay the fines for violating them when you are caught. Are you sure you are mature enough for this type of work? Lots of newbies are not mature & every year the 20-somethings seem to get less & less mature or they melt down at smaller & smaller obstacles. Don't let your temper decide your future.

BTW the company & the Federal govt DO NOT require you to agree with any policy or regulation before it applies to you. You can hate it or love it, it still applies to you and the company & the Feds are also the people that decide if your actions are in compliance, so don't insult them & expect them to be fair.

Guidelines? They are the laws you must follow, they are not suggestions.

This is not a high tech job that requires a really high IQ.
It isn't very difficult to figure out the system, especially at such an easy company as Swift.

But is does take at least a semi-average IQ to make it work for you, rather than you working for it.
If you can't manage that, maybe you are in the wrong line of work.

I'm not surprised at all the pushback on here. Even though we are often at odds with our companies, I don't know anyone who thinks the company should provide you with a way to take their truck to your home empty after you quit. No way.
